kcjenkins Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 Form 982, Reduction of Tax Attributes Due to Discharge of Indebtedness is being or will be revised as a result of the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act of 2007. The form is currently undergoing a revision, and is expected to be released within the next few days, the IRS said on Jan 31, 2008. Also the IRS e-file program declared Form 982 not efileable in a QuickAlert message sent out a couple of weeks ago. I expect that e-file will resume accepting Form 982 once the new version is released and the necessary format changes have been coded into IRS software. In the meantime, it's paper filing if you need this in your return. Quote
taxperson Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 The IRS has posted efile updates for the 982 but they won't be effective until March 3. Quote
