Jack from Ohio Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 From personal experience and 2 hours on the phone with tech. 12.16 was released to do 2 things. "Portalsafe" was added as a free offsite place to store files. I am truly impressed by CCH and their applying design engineers time to provide that for me. Heaven knows it is the most pressing problem facing ATX users today. Some people were experiencing a non-functioning back-up of files. This was the second issue supposedly corrected by 12.16 Additional issues brought to you by this latest "fix." I knew more about what the update was to fix than the tech people I spoke to. Good job upper management!! Slowness in all areas of the program again. Program crashes when clicking on the icon to print the return. The return open at the time of the crash loses all information since the last "save." The automatic save function does not. The program erratically crashes when opening returns. Nothing was addressed to the long times for receiving acks in the e-file. The only recommendation given to me was to clear all workstations and the server and reinstall from scratch. I am not seeing any REAL indicaton that CCH wants to "fix" the software. Unless I see major attitude shifts and REAL changes soon, I will rethink my idea of being a beta tester. Quote

TaxMan60601 Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 ... it is a pity ... very very sad story ... Thanks for the warn, Jack! I don't even wish to think about it but what if they intend to eliminate the server installation and go on with the standalone set up only, for the future ... Is this possible scenario, how cost effective it could be for them .... what about the different features within both installations and the consequences they will face doing this!?! I can't believe they are doing their best to lose the last loyal clients who have left them .... Quote
Guest Taxed Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 Unless there is an exit strategy that is being looked at by senior management at CCH?? You can only throw so much money down a hole and if the cash flow does not support your efforts it is time to hang up. I bet they will have their accountants project the renewal revenue and come to a decision in a year!! Could this be a repeat of the Taxworks situation for 2014?? Quote
