the boss Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 How do you treat a single member LLC when the member is an LLC? Elect on 8832 C status? Quote
OldJack Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 I don't see any reason to elect anything. The single member LLC entity is just ignored and reported with the other LLC entity which may be ignored depending upon its filing status. Quote
the boss Posted April 24, 2013 Author Report Posted April 24, 2013 Ok, the both disregarded entities reported on Sch C? Quote
Lion EA Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 SMLLC A has as it's only member SMLLC B whose only member is John Doe? Is that your situation? If so, then it's reported on John Doe's Form 1040 Schedule C if a business (or maybe E or F, depending on the activity). In other words, if each of the LLCs is a disregarded entity, then you disregard them until you get back to a person or an entity that should file a tax return. 1 Quote
Randall Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 Watch for the state filing requirements. In KY, each SMLLC must file a return with an annual $175 fee. Quote
the boss Posted April 24, 2013 Author Report Posted April 24, 2013 Ok, here are all of the details: LLC (A): Whose only member is LLC B which in turn has two individuals as members. Quote
OldJack Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 Tax form 1065 for LLC B unless B has elected corp status. Quote
