ljwalters Posted April 18, 2013 Report Posted April 18, 2013 One of my clients asked me why I put them on extension if I was going to be able to finish their retun in time. My answer was " What if somethng happens and I am not physically able to complete the process, This is to late in the season for you to find someone else." Their response was "don't say that, nothing can happen to you, what would we do." Fast forward 04/15/ 2013 some time in the evening or night. Some jerk severed the fiberoptic in our area and no internet unto 04/17. I sure was glad I sent the extensions early. And I was sweating the final returns I did send (no AKS ) Quote
kcjenkins Posted April 18, 2013 Report Posted April 18, 2013 So true, it never hurts if you extend and then finish on time, but the reverse can be bad. Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted April 18, 2013 Report Posted April 18, 2013 I added DSL internet to my phone bill for $10/month. I have a backup high speed now. Cable is my main source. Quote

Guest Taxed Posted April 18, 2013 Report Posted April 18, 2013 I have seen engagement letters from many CPA's and EAs that have a standard language giving the taxpro authority to file extension etc. as needed. I think it is a good idea to get the extension form filed in April if there is a possibility that the return may be complete by deadline. If I accept a new taxpayer in April that is one of the conditions. Quote
