I haven't abandoned dollars . . . but they seem to have abandoned me!

The wagging tongues/talking heads have been prognosticating this for at least a couple years. I'm sad (in a frustrated/angry sort of way) to see it actually coming to pass. And to think it was preventable had our pols been willing to put national interest ahead of personal/political expediency.

Once the dollar is abandoned as the standard currency, we will no longer be able to export our inflation as we have been doing for decades. At some point, the debasing of our currency the Fed has been doing will start to hit (the unrest in Europe will delay this) -- but inflation (even hyperinflation) is in our future.
