grandmabee Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 I was going to try the new k-1 import. the 1065 is complete and marked complete. I open the 1040 return and go to import k-1 data and it pops up no k-1 matching the ein or ss number. Am I doing something wrong Quote
rfassett Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Something wrong, because mine have been working like clock work. I have done at least five today. I do not mark my returns complete so that might be an issue although I wouldn't know why. Quote
Maribeth Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Just did a K-1 import and it went slicker than snot. The corporate return is not marked complete so maybe that is the reason your import is not going. Quote
grandmabee Posted April 5, 2013 Author Report Posted April 5, 2013 do you only have the 1040 return open? I tried with both returns open and still no import and with only 1040 open. I think I will try with the 1065 not marked complete Quote
Maribeth Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Had the S-corp return closed but not marked complete. Made changes to the S-corp this morning, closed the S-corp, opened up the two shareholders again, and the system discovered the changes and imported again. It is working fine here. But again, no returns were marked complete. Quote
kcjenkins Posted April 6, 2013 Report Posted April 6, 2013 And did you double check that there was no typo on the SSN on the K-1 or the EIN? If that is OK try going to Return menu and down to Update Forms. Quote
grandmabee Posted April 6, 2013 Author Report Posted April 6, 2013 OK THIS still is not working for me. I have the trust done but not marked complete. close and open the ind. 1040 and go to returns tab and click on import and it shows k-1 data , I click that and again is comes no data with corresponding ein or ssn. did I miss a step? Maribeth Posted April 6, 2013 Report Posted April 6, 2013 Maybe the import function won't work with a trust??? Hmmm . . . . have the Users Manual open for another reason, and just flipped to the import function. On Page 354 it says that you can import for 1041, 1065 and 1120S. Gives a couple of warnings about making sure you have the correct SSN but that's about all it says. You might just have to manually enter the information. so sorry. Quote
grandmabee Posted April 7, 2013 Author Report Posted April 7, 2013 I Know it didn't work on my 1065 either. I think maybe I just have something set up wrong. I will go back to the regular way and input. thanks for double checking. 1 Quote
grandmabee Posted April 7, 2013 Author Report Posted April 7, 2013 figured out the problem with my import. You have to be on the k-1 entry form then do the import function. works now for me. It didn't say that in the instruction but does show it at top of form. 1 Quote
