Refund Delays with 8863

I have about half a dozen clients with form 8863 in their return still waiting for refunds. IRS.GOV says processing.... It has been over 25 days since Ack received.

No 12C letter received. Other clients with 8863 received refund. What is going on? One client called and waited for 45 minutes to talk live only to be told that they are processing and to just keep on checking. No additional details were given by IRS even when pressed.

Are your clients experiencing similar delays? Anybody know what the real hangup is now?

I have one who is expecting a very minimal amount of EITC from W-2 wages, no child, no Sched C, a very plain vanilla return. Return was accepted 2/5. No refund, just "processing." Finally called Practitioner Priority Line last week. They would not talk to me based on check the box authority, put client on the line to authorize and they spoke to her only. Told her there was a system problem with her return and that it would probably be 4 more weeks before she got her refund.

At least they did not try to blame me.
