HV Ken Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Client lives in and has W-2 from Kentucky. They live in Grant county. The W-2 has local income tax for withheld for both Georgetown and Scott counties. Is that just automatic and correct? I can't find anywhere on the KY forms nor in the KY instructions to cover this. Thanks! Quote
gfizer Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Ken, I'm not sure I understand your question, but apparently your client works in the city of Georgetown which is located in Scott County and they have both a city and county payroll tax. You don't have to do anything with the amounts shown on the W-2 for local tax except use them as a deduction on Schedule A. Hope this answers your question. If not, let me know. Quote
HV Ken Posted March 13, 2013 Author Report Posted March 13, 2013 Thanks gfizer. That's all. In NY, if you have local taxes withheld and they don't apply to you, you can get them refunded. Was just looking to confirm that is not the case in KY. Quote
Randall Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 Yes, usually the local taxes are based on where you work, not where you live. Quote
