Eli Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 If this form is not needed on a return does it get transmitted to the IRS if left in a return? Eli Quote
B. Jani Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 Check on the efile tab of forms transmitted. If not needed probably not but check what forms were transmitted. Quote
Eli Posted February 21, 2013 Author Report Posted February 21, 2013 Thanks, Jani! Well I checked & sure enough it is efiled even though its not needed. I efiled a return for a client & her return has been delayed due to the Form 8867 fiasco. She called the IRS & they told her it was due to the 6251 being in the return. I'm just curious if anyone else has had this issue. Thanks! Eli Quote
grandmabee Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 last year if a form was not filled out they didn't send it with the efile. Quote
grandmabee Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 does that mean if they don't owe any AMT the 6251 shouldn't be in the return. I need to double check to see if they have to pay amt. I am not going to then delete it. Maybe IRS employee was wrong Quote
Cathy Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 I have the 6251 open automatically for each return! The AMT can raise it's ugly head without you realizing it! Just one return not accepted since 2-15 and I have an idea the new wife brought hubby's debt with her to her new marriage. Quote
