cientax Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 I have a client that dropped off W2' with CA wages. I guess she worked in CA during the year but she lives here in TX. I know a state return has to be filed but does a locality return have to be filed each different locality? She has six different W2' from different localities. Some one please say NO! Quote
joanmcq Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 No locality. If there's an amount in local taxes for CA SDI it's not a local tax. It should be in box 14, but a lot of employers put it in local tax. ATX has it as the second drop down selection in box 14. Quote
BulldogTom Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 No, our greedy bastards in this state (otherwise known as politicians) have not evolved the tax code to apply to every city and municipality in the state yet. Tom Hollister, CA Quote
jainen Posted February 15, 2013 Report Posted February 15, 2013 >>our greedy bastards in this state (otherwise known as politicians) have not evolved the tax code to apply to every city and municipality in the state yet.<< Actually, they did the opposite--it is illegal for California cities and counties to assess income tax. At least so far, although San Francisco keeps submitting new legislation which might pass now that we have a one-party system. Meanwhile, of course, we have the highest state income tax in the nation, AND the highest state sales tax AND 1.5% local sales tax! No big deal--surf's up! Quote
