jainen Posted February 7, 2013 Report Posted February 7, 2013 Want a flat tax? Okay, AMT (in addition to, not instead of) Want a sales tax? Okay, that too! California requires tax preparers to ask about Internet purchases and add "use tax" to the return. We offer clients a choice: report actual invoices, or pay a standard amount based on AGI (and some clients get to do both!). Quote
Elrod Posted February 7, 2013 Report Posted February 7, 2013 Michigan has been doing that for years now............the forms are running out of space, but big brother,s hand is still in our pocket. Quote
mcb39 Posted February 7, 2013 Report Posted February 7, 2013 Wisconsin has that line on the form too. You would be surprised how many people are religious about documenting that. Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 All states that have sales tax have use tax laws. These were enacted in the 1930's. Fact is, no one ever complied. States are now looking at an untapped, laws already in place, source of revenue. Ohio has really ramped up its enforcement on businesses. Quote
michaelmars Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 NY had it too on its return for a bout 4-5 years now Quote
TAXMAN Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 Virginia has it also but on most returns I have ever seen most nobody ever fills out return for this. We do ask but what do you do when tp says we didn't any. Virginia is voluntary on this form. Quote
michaelmars Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 WE always fill it out since it will automatically protect you from an audit. so for a few bucks you can avoid the risk of your internet purchases being audited. Quote
