[email protected] Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 I have several clients that the IRS has issued a (6) digit IP PIN due to identity theft. My question is: If ATX will only accept 5 numbers in the Taxpayer pin box on the 1040 EF Info form, where do I put the IRS issued IP PIN with 6 digits? When I e-file the return I get an erro message IND-181 requesting for the IRS PIN. Quote
Guest Taxed Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 IP PIN and Taxpayer PIN are two different items. The IP PIN which is 6 digits has a special entry field. In TW it is at the end of 1040 page 1. Quote
taxtrio Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 Isn't that Fed 1040, pg 2 in the signature box.. special box for the Identity theft pin? Taxtrio Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 If you are using ATX, the IRS provided identity protection pin goes on the filer info tab page of the 1040, about halfway down. Right before the direct deposit information for paper filers. Quote
