the boss Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 I have no problems entering data on box 1,3 and 5 of the w-2 as long as they are all the same. If box 1 differs from 3 and 5, am I forced to override the automatically calculated fields (box 3,4,5,6), or is there a more civilized way? Quote
TRX 1 Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 Boss, You can over ride but if you enter in box 12 it will change box 3 & 5 / 4 & 6. Check it out and if you have further questions please ask. Doug Quote
Kea Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 If 3 and 5 differ from 1 due to 401(k) etc, then enter that amount in box 12. Then 3 and 5 will automatcially calculate. If there is no adjustment shown in box 12, then you will have to override 3 & 5. 4 & 6 will then update. Quote
Terry D EA Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 Doug glad to see you here, please check your e-mail as this latest update has screwed a few things up for me. I need help with this. Also, program is now prompting me to download ver .15 Quote
Kea Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 Terry D - I was just about to post the same thing. I installed 16 and recalculated. Wanted to see if locality sales tax was now working. I lost my 2nd W2 and it's not filling in when I enter EIN. Maybe I should follow the software's suggestion and go back to 15? Quote
the boss Posted January 30, 2013 Author Report Posted January 30, 2013 Thank you......keep up the good work. Quote
Crank Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 I checked about 4 returns and a test return and dont see an issue with w2 or anything else for that matter. The software is actually saying to go back to the previous release. When does it say this? Quote
Terry D EA Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 I tried going back to version .15 and the program won't let me. Doug has answered my e-mail and says they are working on the problem now and asked me to hang in there for about 30 minutes. Quote
Terry D EA Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 Crank, after I closed the program and tried to reopen the program it prompted me that there was an update available. Says I have version .16 installed but wants version .15. Check your W-2 forms closely, the main W-2 is fine but the additional W-2's are now blank, very sluggish and none of the cells calculate. At this point, I am not opening any other returns to see if they are affected as well. I guess the only thing to do is wait. Quote
Kea Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 When I opened the program about 1/2 hour ago (?) it asked if I wanted the new update. I clicked "Yes" and got version 16. Installed it. Opened return again and said new update available. I thought maybe I downloaded and forgot to install (I got distracted reading this board). Anyway, when I clicked "Yes" it was to ver. 15. Thanks Terry. I'll check on it later tonight. At this point I only have one "real" return. But I have an appointment for tomorrow night and someone faxing me info tomorrow afternoon. Quote
Crank Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 I spoke too soon, I have only 1 return with multiple w2s and when I checked it earlier I swear both were there. Now the 2nd w2 is blank and I notice the program take a long time (.5 min, long in computer time) to switch between W2s. Earlier I attributed this to sluggishness from 14+ hours of opening and closing many programs/ multiple downloads/other programs running/ MANY webpages/browsers/webinars/video/audio files open as its not uncommon for me to overload things. I have a very fast machine and I use it very hard so rebooting/cache cleaning is done a few times a day and I had not done that all day. However after a reboot/cache cleaning It is clearly the software causing the delay. I have not however received the version rollback as both of you have. Quote
TRX 1 Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 We changed the update back to .15 doing some checks but if it is not already back to .16 it will be in a minute. I added a auto recalculate when the return is opened instead of always having to pus the little green button. On old returns you may have to still hit the little green button. I am on the W2 issue but it will be after Midnight when we update it in a release. Doug Quote
Terry D EA Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 The addition of that feature will be nice. I am hanging in there. Quote
CathysTaxes Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 Now I know why I'm not being notified of release 16. Quote
Terry D EA Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 Program has not gone back to .16 all night. It is now 6:45 AM EST and still no correction or update or no changes at all. I hope this doesn't last too long. Quote
Guest Taxed Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 Terry do I hear desperation and frustration from a TRX saint!?? Quote
