rfassett Posted January 26, 2013 Report Posted January 26, 2013 Maybe some of you have already seen the humor in this and I missed the post and apoligize if I am duplicating. The humor? We are suppose to be able to open a second return return while working on the first right? Like that is going to happen. Most of us would be happy to just get the first open. Great feature though! 1 Quote
RitaB Posted January 26, 2013 Report Posted January 26, 2013 Hahahahahaha! No, I had not thought of that, and it will be fairly hilarious when I get over the coronary I seem to be having. I sure hope some things get resolved. I have only done one return, super easy, took so long to print I was wondering if I would still be in my 30's when it finished. OK, 40's. I started reminiscing about the good old days with pencil and paper. And abacus. Anyway, I couldn't even find the Return Cover Sheet... work on two returns? Hahahahaha! 1 Quote
rfassett Posted January 26, 2013 Author Report Posted January 26, 2013 I had a hard time finding the return cover sheet also and finally went to the knowledge base and found a download of just that. It is called Federal Cover Sheet.rft. I downloaded it, added it to the templet in the client communication area and then changed the name and some of the info on the sheet and made one for the State as well. But I guess you don't have that problem? Isn't your state one of those that does not have a state income tax? Or am I just imagining that? Working on my second return for the day. Thought about opening it while the other return was opened just for grins. But decided against it and decided that I will try that on April 15th. 1 Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted January 26, 2013 Report Posted January 26, 2013 I have been working on a return for a couple here in Ohio. The process for deciding MFJ vs MFS is much simpler now. I have all three returns open and can click between them. Life is good in Ohio!!! Quote
joanmcq Posted January 26, 2013 Report Posted January 26, 2013 The return cover sheet gets selected in the print options. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to customize it - I always change it to read 'Federal & State'. See my post above about the 'print packets'. This is a great feature in that you can customize the default settings for what we all want to print - including setting a bunch of the worksheets to 'never'. Quote

Still could not find it in the return. LOL. Will check out your "print packets" post. Thanks! Ron, I do several with TN returns, and a few other states. Will check out your suggestion. Thanks! Jack, I hate your stinking guts. Quote
rfassett Posted January 26, 2013 Author Report Posted January 26, 2013 I can never decide whether to believe Jack. OK Jack, I am coming to see. How far into Ohio are you. I can be to Ohio in seven minutes. 1 Quote
mcb39 Posted January 27, 2013 Report Posted January 27, 2013 I can never decide whether to believe Jack. OK Jack, I am coming to see. How far into Ohio are you. I can be to Ohio in seven minutes. Surprisingly, though I hate to admit it at times, I do believe Jack. The reason being that I posted last week that I had tried it and it worked. Am not brave enough to go for three. Now Rita is going to hate me too and that will completely ruin my day. However she is much younger than me so has more time to get these things figured out. 1 Quote

joanmcq Posted January 27, 2013 Report Posted January 27, 2013 I did try two today. It took even longer to open the second one, but it worked! I only had two returns for which I've got 'all the stuff' and I have them done and just need the 8879s back to try to efile. I've got to say that once I got the hang of the new print manager, I do think it's much better than the old one. You can print one copy to paper and one to PDF at the same time. It's a bit of a pain to set up the print packets, but once done, at least I know the frikkin' client letter options won't print if I forget to uncheck a box. Quote
taxtrio Posted January 27, 2013 Report Posted January 27, 2013 I am up to 16 returns... not efiling yet.. I try to open the return the day before client is due in. If return won't open... I make a new file and start from scratch so I will be ready for the client when they come in. Usually I rollover returns the morning they are coming in. Not this year. Booking appts 2 hours apart instead of 1 hour. Program is so slow, and printing is slower. Hope this fix on Monday cures our problems.. I can spread appts out now, but not in a week or so! Here's hoping for the best.. Taxtrio Quote
