David Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 I can't figure out from the 2012 ATX program how to export a client list so I can send out tax season letters to my clients. In the past there was a reports option in the return manager that allowed one to export the client list to excel. The reports option is not available in the 2012 program. Also, no searches in the program help addressed the client list. Has this feature been dropped in the 2012 program? If so, how do you plan to send letters to your tax clients in future years? I exported the client list from my 2011 ATX program. When I tried to open the excel file I get a message that says "Office File Validation detected a problem while trying to open this file. Opening it may be dangerous." Have any of you experienced this? What do I need to do to get a client list to create letters and labels? Thanks. Quote
mcb39 Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 At this point, there is no allowance made to print either the client list or labels. The last I heard, we might have that in May. This was before all of the other terrible bugs were discovered and it has been downhill ever since. Print the client list and the labels from the 2011 program for now. Don't try to export it, just print it. For my part, I ordered a separate label program, but really, right now, I don't even have the heart to install it. Quote
Guest Taxed Posted January 13, 2013 Report Posted January 13, 2013 Most of us will need this export feature at the end of the tax season. As TaxedOut suggested use the 2011 software, it does it nicely. I send out thank you letters to my "better" clients and also twice a year I send out a quick one page newsletter with tax updates. Years back i signed on to a service that produced a professional looking newsletter but to fill the 4 pages front and back they would put current news, recipies etc. You probably get that stuff from your banks. Some of my clients told me it was a waste because they threw it in the junk mail can. They would rather see me write to them on stuff that they can understand in simple english and keep it short. Since then I keep my newsletter to one sheet, front and back. Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 I have not tried using it, but the 2012 program now has an option under Reports to allow you to print or export a client list. I don't rollover returns until I am ready to do them, so I really won't find this that helpful for a while. But it does seem to be there. Quote
