ILLMAS Posted January 9, 2013 Report Posted January 9, 2013 This question is for those that are having trouble with ATX2012, I am just wondering if your computer meets the minimun required to run ATX2012. Minimum System Requirements The minimum system requirements for 2012 ATX products are: Windows XP (SP3 or higher)800 megahertz (MHz) processor or higher1 gigabyte (GB) or more of RAM8-speed or higher CD-ROM DriveSuper VGA 1024 x 768, High Color/16 Bit displayMicrosoft Internet Explorer 8.0 (SP1 or higher)A high-speed internet connection (DSL, cable modem, or T1/T3)A laser printer is required for printing W-2 and 1099 formsInternet access is required for downloading online product updates, including Client Accounting Suite, Trial Balance, Payroll, PaperlessPLUS™ and ATX tax compliance software users with 64bit machines that do not already have Microsoft .NET 4.0 installed. Recommended System Requirements For professional results, we recommend the following for most 2012 ATX products: Microsoft Windows XP (SP3 or higher, 32-bit or 64-bit*) or Windows 7 (SP1 or higher, 32-bit or 64-bit*)2.0 GigaHertz (GHz) processor or higher2 gigabyte (GB) or more of RAM32-speed or higher CD-ROM DriveSuper VGA 1024 x 768, High Color/16 Bit display or betterMicrosoft Internet Explorer 8.0 or higherA high-speed Internet connection (DSL, cable modem, or T1/T3)An e-mail account that supports file attachmentsA file backup system (backup tape, removable hard drive, CD-R, DVD-R, or similar)A laser printer *The Practical Tax Expert CD, included with the Total Tax Office and Total Tax & Accounting Office packages, requires a 32-bit operating system. The only problem I am having (ocassionaly) is when I exit from ATX2012 a get a pop up "CCHSFS Tax Preparation Software has stopped working". And here are my computer specs: Win 7 Pro 64-Bit i5 Core 2.50 GHz 4GB RAM Quote
Guest Taxed Posted January 9, 2013 Report Posted January 9, 2013 Friends don't forget that your Anti-Virus software can throw a monkey wrench with certain software. Norton and Mcafee are known to do that. I disable the Anti Virus when I am installing by tax or business software and do the first run with the anti-virus turned off just to prevent those pesky warnings etc. However if you are downloading from the internet, pls. make sure anti-virus is on! Also if you are running anything in the background or minimized, turn it off prior to installing a new software. Those of your with only 1GB of memory, pls. upgrade to at least 2GB. Memory is cheap now. I think I paid $19.99 from Tigerdirect when I upgraded mine to 2GB. You will see a difference in the speed of the browser and how quickly programs load. Quote

I am getting this same error on the latest 12.6 update. I tried disabling antivirus temporarily, restarting, reinstalling, reverting back to 12.5, etc. Nothing has worked. Server is running Windows SBS 2011, and workstations are all running Windows 7. All machines meet spec. Thanks. Quote
