Terry O Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 I just downloaded a free IPad app "Ask a Tax Preparer" There is also an "Ask a CPA". You know when you get these phone calls or emails asking the most basic of basic questions???? Well, this is not bad. Obvoiuusly, you get what you pay for, but this has some value. Just my humble opinion. :scratch_head: Quote
Guest Taxed Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 If I get a call from someone that I do not know asking a "simple tax question", I never answer it directly because over the years I have learned that the "simple" is not really all that simple it is just the tip of the iceberg! I ask them if they would come for a "free" initial consultation and bring with them their last year's tax return. This is a marketing opportunity! If I get a wise person giving me grief why I would not just answer, I ask them to call any Doctor from the yellow pages that they have never seen and ask them to diagnose a medical problem! Usually they get the point and those who don't get it I do not want them as a client anyways! Quote
mcb39 Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 I received that email also and am still wondering about the legitimacy of where it came from. Is it someone just wanting to compile a list of PTIN preparers? It is a shame that a person has to second guess every request and offer these days. When it comes to confidentiality, I strongly feel that I cannot trust anyone but myself and that is not a nice feeling. Quote
