I registered with the IRS to be ERO last year, do I have to do anything this year?

Hello everyone,

Last year was my first year in the business and I registered to be an authorized efile provider. I'm wondering if I have to do anything this year to keep that or does it automatically carry forward every year?

My understanding is that unless notified by the IRS that there is an issue, it is one and done. No repeated registering is necessary.

But you do have to renew your PTIN each year.

You can go to the IRS website, log into Authorized IRS e-file providers, find your state, find your zip and see if you are on the list. It is very unlikely that your name will not be there. Good luck.

You also need 15 hrs of CPE to renew your PTIN.
