ed_accountant Posted December 23, 2012 Report Posted December 23, 2012 Hi, Is anyone using a web based remote control to access their office computer programs on the weekends? If so, which program are you using and how is working? Can you print at home? I am considering these websites: Gotomypc.com Logmein.com free Thanks Quote
Medlin Software, Dennis Posted December 23, 2012 Report Posted December 23, 2012 Logmein. Have not tried printing, but I believe it is included. Quote
taxpro78 Posted December 24, 2012 Report Posted December 24, 2012 Teamviewer.com - free However, Microsoft Windows Remote Desktop is by far superior (also free, comes with Windows). It requires more work to set up (depending on how your office is networked) but the performance is far beyond anybody else. Quote
kcjenkins Posted December 24, 2012 Report Posted December 24, 2012 I've used MS Remote Desktop for years, and it's both free and excellent. Why pay for anything else? Quote

If the computer you need to connect to does not have a public IP (ie most offices or even home setup where multiple computers connect to a router), it requires a certain (I daresay non-trivial) amount of work to set it up. kcjenkins Posted December 25, 2012 Report Posted December 25, 2012 Ok, to be fair, my computer expert sons always set up my new computers, so I really do not know personally how difficult it is. But I do know that once set, it's a piece of cake to use, and does not require any other company's input or cost. And I do know there are free videos that will walk you through the setup. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315328 http://technet.micro...y/bb457106.aspx http://techtips.salo...ktop-11704.html Does not sound too difficult. Step 1 Download the official Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection software tool. See "Resources." Step 2 Double-click the installation file you downloaded, named "MSRDPCLI.EXE," to start the installation process. Click the "Next" button, agree to the license terms and conditions and then wait for the software to finish installing on your computer. Step 3 Restart your computer once the software has been installed, and you will be able to use it. Quote
joanmcq Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 I'd like to be able to access my home PC from my iPad when I'm traveling. I know there are apps for GotomyPC, but free is good; does the Microsoft Remote work with the Apple OS? Quote
