Elrod Posted December 21, 2012 Report Posted December 21, 2012 Tax Preparers Must Renew Their PTINs and Those Required to Take the RTRP Test Should Schedule It As Soon As Possible IR-2012-103, Dec. 20, 2012 — Professional tax return preparers must renew their Preparer Tax Identification Numbers (PTINs), which expire Dec. 31, 2012, if they plan to prepare returns in 2013. Preparers who need to take the competency test may schedule an appointment while renewing their PTIN. http://www.irs.gov/News-&-Events 1 Quote
Guest Taxed Posted December 21, 2012 Report Posted December 21, 2012 Any tax professional worth their salt must not wait until the holidays to renew their PTIN. There could be glitches in the system due to the rush etc. I think last year when IRS was still accepting paper many tax preparers who submitted in Dec never got their PTIN in January and had to use social security number. I renewed my mid oct as soon as they started and it was quick and painless. Great job IRS! Quote
JohnH Posted December 21, 2012 Report Posted December 21, 2012 I renewed a couple of days ago. Took about 2 minutes. Can I have my salt back? Quote
