HV Ken Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 Client brought one of these (CP2057) in last week. This came in November for tax year 2011. Shows what the IRS thinks was not reported on the original return. I kinda like this. Rather than waiting two years and sending a different notice where they calculate the tax due, interest, penalties, etc., this one is rather timely sent, is informational, and offers the chance to file an amended return. Is this the IRS being proactive rather than reactive? (rhetorical question) 1 Quote
schirallicpa Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 I've already seen one of these too. Client doesn't think any thing was missing. I am leary that the IRS knows something that I don't. Not sure how to respond. Quote
HV Ken Posted December 12, 2012 Author Report Posted December 12, 2012 In my case, there was one 1099-DIV item that was correctly reported as missing. I've already seen one of these too. Client doesn't think any thing was missing. I am leary that the IRS knows something that I don't. Not sure how to respond. Quote
