cred65 Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 These numbers add up to 742K. There are supposed to be 1,200,000 tax preparers, so what happened to the unaccounted for 458K? You can tell that this is an election year. Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted October 17, 2012 Report Posted October 17, 2012 They voted early in Ohio. I am waiting for my ballot to be mailed to me.... Quote
jainen Posted October 17, 2012 Report Posted October 17, 2012 >>what happened to the unaccounted for 458K?<< It's not surprising that less than 3% of attorneys have registered to prepare taxes, but how do you explain the missing half of CPA's and even the 20% of supposedly tax specialist enrolled agents that haven't applied? Not to mention the seasonal shopping mall employees who are the target of the PTIN program. Quote
kcjenkins Posted October 17, 2012 Report Posted October 17, 2012 Lots of CPAs don't do anything except accounting and/or auditing and don't want to take on the responsibility of staying up to date in tax law just to do an occasional return. Also, those 20% of EAs are probably retired, or about to retire. Quote
