cathyan Posted September 6, 2012 Report Posted September 6, 2012 TP decided to handle everything himself. He mailed in what the IRS asked for, and they allowed some, but not others. In going through all his paperwork, he found more receipts that would help him. Can I amend his return AFTER the examination is done? I haven't encountered this before. (They usually call me as soon as they get a letter!) Quote

bertrans Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 If the tax ssessment is paid (the penalties and interest can still be outstanding), your response will be considred a claim; send the case to the Accounts Management Operation of your original Service Centre. Recons are for cases where the tax has not yet been paid and follow a diffrent procesure. Quote
