NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 I just noticed that I transmitted a return with the wrong date for the date signed. I don't know what I was thinking, because I dated it for tomorrow and they signed tonight. Now what do I do? I am just too tired and made a mistake. Thanks. Quote
Elrod Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 I would just let it ride as is. Don't worry...Life is too short..... As Grandma used to say...."It will all come out in the wash" Quote
kcjenkins Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 Either the IRS will accept it, [most likely] in which case the ack date is the ruling one and you are fine, or they will reject it and you will know that within the hour, and then can resend it with the right date. Either is ok. Quote
NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted April 17, 2012 Author Report Posted April 17, 2012 Thanks. I was really worried that I would get in trouble. Quote
Cathy Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 I did the same as you a week or so ago and it was accepted to my surprise. The only thing in this case is today is the deadline for filing a timely return. After it is accepted (assuming), be sure to document the fact that it was e-filed and accepted today for future reference, if needed. Cathy Quote
NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted April 18, 2012 Author Report Posted April 18, 2012 It was accepted and I made notes on the 8879. Thanks. Quote
