Crank Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 I have a 1099R with a code T. Taxpayer is over age 59.5 and has had Roth IRAs in excess of 5 years. So this distribution should not be taxable. I input $0 in to box "2a Taxable Amount" of the 1099R and still the amount from "Box 1 Gross Distribution" carries to line 19 of form 8606 and line 15b of the 1040 showing the entire distribution as taxable. I tried putting a zero in line 19 of the 8606 but it still shows the gross distribution. How does everyone handle nontaxable Roth IRA distributions in TRX? Quote
Bart Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 Don't you need to put the IRoth IRA basis on the 8606 also? Quote
Crank Posted March 13, 2012 Author Report Posted March 13, 2012 Yes, that was it. Apparently there is a link from the 8606 input form for the basis calculation. Im still learning to working with input forms rather than a forms based program such as ATX. Thanks Quote
