Is there anyone else having trouble with the program not asking to release the state efiles from "Hold" after they have been accepted by the Federal? This seems to occur frequently but at random times for me.

At the firm where I work, I am the person who takes care of the e-filing. We average 30+ a day. Only about 10% of them release automatically. It is a real time consumer with the number we process.

At my personal practice, I don't e-file nearly as many, but the same results. I cannot find a pattern at all. I put the word out to tech support, but I think sending in any problems is a waste of good electrons.

under the preference, EFile manager tab, mark State Efile Hold as ASK. This should fix it. I never had problem. My state return are on hold and when Federal is accepted, it always ask me to release.

Well, given the many changes in the code and in the IRS processing, due to identity fraud issues etc, I guess this is one bug they just have not had time to fix yet. Keep sending requests to help desk, and I am sure they will get it fixed pretty soon. It is still Feb, after all.

i have my hold and release state efile preference set to "always".

yes, a bit earlier, i had to manually release some states (to get a created status).

my most recent states automatically released to created...after fed was accepted.
