tuttenk Posted February 10, 2012 Report Posted February 10, 2012 My employer has two different companies that I have worked for, so I received two different W2's from him. One had an incorrect SSN, and the other was missing the state ID number. They corrected them and printed me out new ones, but now that I am filing online, I am wondering... Should I mark these as corrected W2's? I know that literally they are, but they are not marked as Form W2-c. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted February 10, 2012 Report Posted February 10, 2012 This is a forum for tax professionals who use ATX software for preparing returns for other people. From your question, I am guessing that you are using a do-it-yourself software for your own return. In entering your information into the tax program, you should not change the information provided on source documents such as W-2's or 1099's unless you are a professional and understand the consequences and meaning of such changes. So the short answer to your question is enter it just like you got it - do not mark it corrected. 1 Quote
Randall Posted February 10, 2012 Report Posted February 10, 2012 It could be a re-issue and not a corrected. If originals have not been sent to SSA yet, it wouldn't need the W2c. 2 Quote
