  1. Line 9 on the KS K-40 and KS schedule S.
  2. I had a client email me to tell me they could not get thru on the phone (how do these people expect me to get any work done when I am on the phone all the time) and said to please call her when I got a minute. I emailed her back to say I thought I would have a minute in July and I would talk to her then.
  3. Couldn't you use your social security number as your EIN? Are you using ATX? If so, when you go to create the efile, it will prompt you to add the necessay forms which is a " CA EF Info Bus"
  4. The 548 has nothing to do with the 600.
  5. I can't believe I havve never had this problem before and now I have it on 4 returns.
  6. I have a loss reported on a K-1 that is limited because the taxpayer does not have sufficient basis to deduct it. How do I tell ATX that?
  7. Agree with OldJack (which I do most of the time)
  8. What is his date of birth?
  9. There is a reason I became an accountant. I like boring.
  10. Since Alaska is not a community property state I think you have to do 2 schedule F's and two schedule SE's.
  11. It is not the amount of money you make that determines if you are in business. If you have a profit motive and conduct your affairs in a businesslike manner then you are in business.
  12. Sorry this is kind of long but it fit well with the comment above. A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door. SON: 'Daddy, may I ask you a question?' DAD: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the man. SON: 'Daddy, how much do you make an hour?' DAD: 'That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?' the man said angrily. SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?' DAD: 'If you must know, I make $50 an hour.' SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down. SON: 'Daddy, may I please borrow $25?' The father was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed.. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish frivolities.' The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money? After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down , and started to think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $25.00 and he really didn't ask for money very often The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door. 'Are you asleep, son?' He asked. 'No daddy, I'm awake,' replied the boy. 'I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the man. 'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $25 you asked for.' The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you daddy!' he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father. 'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the father grumbled. 'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied. 'Daddy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.' The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness. It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $50 worth of your time with someone you love. If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of hours. But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

    Efile

They started a couple of weeks ago. The refunds were held up because the senate would not authorize borrowing until the govenor signed something. She finally signed.

    Efile

Kansas is issuing refunds again. All of mine that never change from IRS cleared have been processed and the clients have received the refunds. I do not think I would resubmit any returns.
  15. I do not know about Arizona S Corp. But I do have a similar situation. I want to efile a Colorado partnership return. Colorado department of revenue does allow this and has form CO DR 8453P. ATX does not have that form and they say they don't plan to offer it. So I have to file CO 106 on paper. Seems like the first time I have found a form ATX didn't do.
  16. Sounds right to me. It is line 60.
  17. Where else is the W-2 being reported (and deducted) besides the 2441?
  18. Isn't that what Tom Stava said. He has the greatest Circular 230 statements ever.
  19. Under expenses recorded on books not on tax return = actual vehicle expenses. Under deductions included on Schedule K not charged against book income = standard mileage allowance. The Why about is because that is the only way for reconciling items from book income to tax income as OldJack said.
  20. On the 1099-R form in ATX, did you put "OK" in box 11a-State 1 and the state number in box 11a-State 1 payer no. and the amount of the distribution in box 12a-State 1 distribution?
  21. There is a KY E-File Information form. Did you include it?
  22. Mine is shorter: IRS CIRCULAR 230 Disclosure: Under U.S. Treasury regulations, we are required to inform you that any tax advice contained in this e-mail or any attachment hereto is not intended to be used, and cannot be used, to avoid penalties imposed under the Internal Revenue Code. I have an accountant friend here in town who refuses to put the statement on his emails. He says he is in business to help his clients avoid penalties.
  23. I would have thought that there would be an amount on both the 1065 and the K-1 to increase her basis for money contributed.
  24. I read that to mean the employee will report the amount of the credit due on their 2010 1040 not the amount of the credit already received.
  25. When you cash US savings bonds and use the proceeds for college, the interest is not taxable. How do you show that on the tax return?
