    NY Tax Return

Thank you. In CT, so do lots of NY NR/PY; but get a couple of residents every year.
  3. In CT, e-filed returns with direct deposit get their refunds within four business days -- actually, I'm seeing about two!
  4. Why not just send in an estimated tax payment with (at same time as) each draw? IRS won't mind getting more payments more often. No one has to remember when to send in. Dad won't be afraid kid will spend it or you're embezzling or whatever his concern is. It'll feel more like w/h from payroll to those who have been asking for payroll. I had one client I gave a bunch of blank ES coupons to, well, amounts were blank, her info was on the rest; she's a headhunter and liked to pay her taxes from each fee she receives. Had trouble getting her to do at least four and at least on the due dates, but some years she did many more. She was happy and did record when and amounts for me.
  5. Just chiming in here with a quasi-question since I have one coming up who sold their LLC interests and had A/R. Is the F4797 on the member's F1040? Or, do you do a phantom sale on the F1065 of all its assets? The F1065 will end up with all zeros on Schedule L, right, when all members sell their interests to an outside corporation? I'm dreading this one.
  6. My son went to PSU Hazelton for a couple of years before graduating from Temple. Now he lives in Lakewood, works in Starlight, and just bought commercial property across the border in Hancock, NY. He agrees with you about everybody know everybody else's business in small towns.
  7. And, if they split their refund into two or three different direct deposits (IRA, checking account, etc.) they will NOT receive their rebate via direct deposit also using the deposit schedule but will receive a paper check in the mail on the much later mailing schedule.

    NY Tax Return

    Queens?
  9. I just realized that I've been eating a banana every morning as I start work. Has someone been tampering with my mind?
  10. Congratulations! And, hope with all those people, you have a few adults who are cooking and shopping and cleaning and helping you host and manage your home while you manage your business. If not, start delegating! Enjoy your family while they're near.
  11. Did it just begin in the prior year for this client? Can you go back to that year and try to solve the problems there. When that year works, then roll forward the return again....
  12. Years ago I kept getting a bill for $0.00 from some store credit card like Macy's. After several months and multiple phone calls and written notes, I just wrote them a check for $0.00 and it finally ended.
  13. They can deactivate it. I had an EIN but being a SMLLC with no employees it never showed up on any separate filings. The IRS deactivated it. When I applied to e-file, it came to light. Now I have two new EINs.
  14. Pay full price for two years, get the third for free! After the check clears, of course.
  15. One of my clients is in the market and wanted to avoid Vista. Dell told him they can only sell computers with XP until the end of May and that MS will stop supporting XP in July. Anyone know for sure?
  16. Thank you, everyone.
  17. My old software had a check box beside the names. My new software has a box to fill in with a T or an S.
  18. Speaking of the rebates... If DD refund, then DD rebate same info. If no DD now (balance due), then we're to add DD info to return so IRS can send rebate DD? Will that confuse the computers now with the balance due that is NOT direct debit? New situation, split DD refund with $500 into her IRA and rest into her checking account. Think I remember that IRS will mail a paper check for rebate in that situation, but cannot find it on IRS site now. Anybody else remember an example like this?
  19. I used Max as pay-per-return. Yesterday I received the ATX postcard. But, they'd be cutting their own throats since I now use ProSystem fx !!!
  20. Is she a dependent of her grandparents? If so, grandparents get an extra $300, right?
  21. I think my advancing age/ failing eyesight have more to do with me wanting a larger screen than just wanting the latest techie toy. But, we want bigger and more of them, too. Greedy, aren't we?!
  22. So, if next year or so, the kid gets a state refund, will the parents claim it as income?
  23. Does he meet the requirements of HoH?
  24. Nope. Year that includes the trust year-end date. If the trust's year didn't end until 11/30/2007, she wouldn't have had info back in April 2007 or earlier to file her 2006 return.
  25. Better read the NY directions. I had a colleague who had NY severence for a CT resident last year. I'm only remembering bits since it wasn't my client and was a year ago, but seems NY deemed the severence paid for services rendered in NY, or maybe a ratio. But, read the NY directions. And, think my colleague ended up calling NY after client received an invoice!
