Partnership and uncleared/cashed checks and 1099's
Lion EA replied to Catherine's topic in General Chat
I have a problem with an S-corp who wants his return soon but hasn't looked at his December statements. We took a peek at the payroll account statement yesterday as we knew one payroll bounced back and forth while between lines of credit. Well, pay went to employees and then back into bank (this was all about 12/2) but never back to employees per statement !! Bookkeeper is sure she got December direct deposit, though. It's going to be a mess. And, this a multi-million dollar corp where I really need to research and probably file 3115s, so not happy that I have another issue to research when he flat-out refused to go on extension -- a conversation we've been having for months, but yesterday his wife said No. He's already looking at new banks, so I think the bank may have messed up royally with the December 2014 payroll not actually getting paid until January 2015. -
We're old enough that we treated ourselves to a cleaning lady every couple of weeks for the main rooms of the house. But, not the guest room or my office (I'd have to put stacks away) or our kid's old room that houses hubby's computer. It does include the hall bathroom that clients would use, though, as well as our master bath. Much easier on my aching back and allergies. (Now she refuses to use my vacuum with the hepa filters and uses her old Oreck that leaves a toxic cloud. Today, I'm trying to get out of the house to see a biz client before she vacuums.) That's why I'm in the organizational pickle with stacks stacked on stacks in crates due to getting them out when a client would be coming! I did add a deadbolt to my office door. And, have certain drawers and cabinets that lock. But, out of sight, out of mind. Am trying to alleviate stacks before first new client's appointment, so I don't just throw them together again and lock them in the guestroom. We'll see how far I get.

The dust is really bad. I keep a Swiffer duster under my desk, but don't use it as often as I used to. The blinds are especially bad, so I try not to have clients in during daylight hours! I can't remember when I vacuumed. Forgot I overflowed into the family room too, especially hubby's cubby. He couldn't reach his own files, so moved my things out. Cleaning lady coming tomorrow morning. She doesn't clean my office, but does vacuum the family room. So, have to figure out where to put those boxes. I was doing OK with each stack denoting a client, but a bunch of stacks went into various crates and boxes when I did have clients in. Now I need to sort those boxes back into stacks and hope they're still chronological via due dates/promised dates/etc.

I think the dead poinsettia is a nice touch, yes?

A cousin had a defibrillator implanted. Surgeon told his wife they test it while he's still on the table via remote control. Wife asked if she could buy a remote. As far as we know, the answer was No.

OK, so I've already forgotten how to post a picture! Please refresh my memory, and I'll show you my office is as messy as my mind...

Anyone using fee collect prepared a return yet?

It just needs the microphone "hole." -
I have stuff in the guest room across the hall and stuff under my desk and under my other desk. And, now with no clients around I have about a dozen stacks on my desk, four stacks stuffed in the bookshelves on top of the neatly aligned folders, another half dozen stacks on my other desk, and another half dozen crates, shopping bags, etc. on the floor! And, don't even get me started on my own tax returns/documents for the last half dozen years in a huge stack totally unassembled in the closet, almost reaching to the pole. I will clean before clients arrive in February. Except for the closet and guest room. My office looked like the pictures for about 12 hours!

Wouldn't having a cow be a good thing in your area?!

That makes me feel a little better.

Yes, I do want the forms to autofill as well. And, I want the program to explain to the client WHY they should be on extension. And, dust/vacuum my office

I reacted the same way as during the countdown to Christmas. I am NOT ready!

Does anyone have a list of which states' extensions can be efiled?

Sometimes I have a prior year return open, usually the .pdf. But, most of the time the prior year numbers/info on the current year data entry screen is sufficient. Today my office is a huge mess. My first firm appointment isn't until Monday 2 February, so I'll probably clean that weekend !!

I stayed up all night cleaning my office before a photo shoot for CCH's Partners magazine back in early 2011. It has never looked like that before or after! The NY photographer and his stylist made my office look great in the magazine, but weren't styling me. They had me change clothes multiple times, so my hair was full of static electricity and my makeup was disappearing. They moved things out of my office and into my office and had an amazing setup of lights and reflectors. http://community.cchgroup.com/servlet/JiveServlet/previewBody/1061-102-1-1038/Dollars%20and%20Sense.pdf The Dell monitors swivel, so I can turn one toward a client when needed. I've swapped them around so I have a portrait on the right with government forms/return that can turn toward client, portrait in the middle with data entry, and landscape on the left with my email on the right half and on the left half email for two large clients, this and other message board, sometimes FaceBook, Twitter, news, etc. When I receive client documents electronically or have scanned them, I display client documents on one of the halves of the landscape monitor. All the monitors can swivel portrait to landscape and swivel around also.

I love my three monitors.

NT- How to get over the grief of losing your spouse
Lion EA replied to Naveen Mohan from New York's topic in General Chat
My father-in-law had to do just that. He called his only son, my husband to go there; we hopped in the car and hit the road from CT to PA. But, Dad decided he wanted that to be a private time with his wife. He had a friend out in the waiting room; the friend took him home when all was over and waited with Dad until we arrived. I guess I'm saying to not be alone, to have a trusted friend with you or just outside, someone who can stay as needed and just be quiet or listen to you. If that's family, that's wonderful; but families can be spread far apart. My husband had just been with his mother, so he had less of a need to say goodbye than Dad who needed the time to say goodbye in his own way after 50+ years of marriage. I have an engineer client, very analytical, who lost his wife a few years ago. When he returned to have his taxes prepared a year after her passing, he teared up and said to me that people tell him he'll be better now that a year has passed. But, he said, it never goes away, you just learn to live a new way. I was very touched that he could open up to me. We are your family and will listen to you and love you and cry and pray. -
i took a lot of courses in this. Those forms are not going to be cheap. Maybe $100 each.
-
I charge by the form, but will add an Affordable Care Act item of $25 for check-the-box. Don't know how much I'll be charging for the forms. Doing a pro bono return this week for a family friend, so I'll see how much time it looks like to prep....
-
Maybe with my next purchase. A little every year.
-
My prayers go out to your wife and to you and to her whole medical team.

Good grief. I have to start reading all over again. I guess the least that this does is make only one 3115 necessary per taxpayer even if both automatic and non-automatic consent issues apply? But, still a 3115. Was really hoping for a cut-off date with going forward with new repair regs only and not backward. Elections but not a 3115. I can dream!
