  1. As soon as I open my eyes, darn thing is time out, I hate when that happens.
  2. Absolutely not, that’s why I threw in highlight.
  3. I was trying to post the link: https://www.treasury.gov/resource-center/tax-policy/treaties/Documents/japantreaty.pdf
  4. “This tax season is going to be a disaster in terms of our own client service, but likely nothing as bad as next filing season when those $2000 refunds turn into $40 ("but you already got the money in your paycheck" isn't going to cut it).” Same thing I am telling my single, no dependent clients, and maybe it’s not a bad idea incorporating something to that nature on the transmittal letter and highlighting it.
  5. Q: is everyone adjusting federal withholding for 2018? I did a projection for a client using 2017 wages and withholdings and things look good, but I know the withholding should be less.

    HP Printers

Wow 15yrs, call me crazy but I have gone through four printers in 10yrs (2 HP and 2 Brother) and I have upgraded computers three times already and I will be getting another XPS after the tax season. And two laptops too
  7. Since I can remember, the 1099 always took awhile to get accepted, weeks....
  8. Speaking of texts, I sometimes have clients tell me, I sent you a text and you never responded, I am like really, as far I as know you are calling me on a landline.
  9. Next time send them packing, I once made a mistake letting a former tax client use my computer to access their files, didn't remember the login info, wanted to call tech support etc... Now I say no.
  10. No, not in the prior years
  11. Has someone here been successful and in stopping back to back audits? I have a client that has been audited for 2010, 11, 12, 13 & 14 and now 2015.
  12. Are your clients (non w-2) giving you a break down of earnings between periods? Now I have a question, if the TP is a W-2 employee all year this form would not apply correct?
  13. Thanks everyone, I decided to go temporarily with Avast, I say temporarily because I needed a software to remove various virus from my associates computer and now that they are gone I am just going to go with Windows Defender.
  14. Can someone recommend a antivirus (preferably, used by computer builders) that is out there for free? Thanks MAS
  15. Never mind, I had not activated Sch E.
  16. When you have a rental property on a 1041, does the depreciation go the first page of the 1041? I am trying to tie it to the appropriate rental unit, however ATX only allows me pick form 1041. Thanks MAS
  17. Big box places would probably charge +$250 for a 1040 & Sch A, and I really don’t know if they offer tax planning, but why can’t you compete with big boxes in prices? A couple of years ago a new client brought in their prior return and they only paid $35.00 for 1040, I told them my fees are not even close to that, so you might want to go back and pay the $35 again, they said hell no, I rather pay your fees then to wait for 3-4 hours in line.
  18. You: Its my duty to inform you that you must comply the current IRS rules and I recommend you pay it until there is further notice from the IRS ..... (sent in an email that you can always go back to) Me: I am not going to pay the damm bill because #@$!!.... (it`s my problem, now)
  19. Delete the SS# and re-type EIN XX-XXXXX... the dash is what makes the differences.
  20. Is that the hole picture and the hole truth?
  21. http://www.epicfail.com/2018/01/16/im-getting-tired-bullshit-tom/
  22. Q: if you have the payroll module, can you file quarterly returns electronically? And is it as straightforward like submitting 1099’s? For the past years I have been using it for efiling 1099s and always paper printed quarterly returns and have clients mail them. QB has the option but requires prior IRS approval.
  23. I used to be a Proseries user and when I moved to ATX I kept on using it.
  24. It’s also a good idea to have an excel spreadsheet to do the calculations, I use one that allocates the sales price (pro-rate) amongst building, lands, improvements etc...., then I tie it to the tax program.
