    FRESHBOOKS

Never heard of it, looked it up and looks like QB online, but the only feedback I give is to make sure the vendor allows you to export the files to excel or any usable format in case you decide to go with another software. One more, the goal is always for the software to be user friendly for the accountant, not the client, as you probably have read some of our comments regarding QB online. Good luck

How much is carbonite now costing?
  3. I have a weird one that I cannot explain, efiled a 2018 tax return on May 21, TP calls me this past Saturday," I received a check from the IRS for $XXX" and I responded saying it was probably the stimulus check he has been waiting for, then when he gave me the amount (wasn't rounded to the nearest 100th), I said the amount doesn't seem to be the stimulus check. So I had him read the information off the check it said 12/2018, and yes he received his refund via paper check in less then two weeks, and the strangest thing, the return was marked for direct deposit
  4. Anyone else experiencing hold up with clients refunds? I have two that I submitted in late March and early April and the status is they are still being processed. Who know if there are others out there, but only two have called me to let me know.

I received a tip from a client I had billed back in April, God bless her.
  11. Why not get them to provide you with the legal documents of how these business are structured, how they compliment each other etc.... Get a “Help me, help you” attitude or send them backing with all their confusion.
  12. Sorry, it should be part-time, not non-resident.
  13. TP is doing work (temporary but get's extended) for an agency in DC, TP home state is IL, for 2019 TP worked for the whole year for the agency, but would come occasionally to their home state. Would the person qualify was a non-resident? Thanks
  14. So people don't think we are boring, should we start a new post to see how many years each has been doing taxes and what equipment/software they have used in the past?
  15. Funny how we can all relate, and this conversation is happening to often, when I talk to non-tax persons or people that don't deal with clients, they always say "why do you setup boundaries". I hate when that happens, but they correct, so please share how you took over the driver seat and took away the power from that pushy person.

  17. Makes two of us, I cannot stomach today's music and I am still a young whipper snapper, I can listen to classic rock all day.
  18. The shenanigans stopped many years ago, you should be okay. But why just get your own domain, we are in 2020 now and prices are very low.
  19. Oh wow, awkward unless they get divorced yesterday and one of them got married today.
  20. Technically this is not your problem, I made it very clear to anyone that asks me, that this stimulus payment is something I do not control and it has been a mess since day.
  21. I have seen many LLC prepared by attorneys and non-attorneys after the fact and the loan is under the owner name, not the LLC. Does the IRS care? I don’t know, but some would be happy to say, the IRS doesn’t care how it’s reported, just as long as it is reported.
  22. Thanks, now for another issue that has come up, the kid has worked part-time during the years and I have been preparing a non-resident return up to 2018, since the kid was living in X state because of school prior to 2019, would it be safe to say they are now a full-time resident of that state? My gut feeling is yes.
  23. TP kid moved to attend college in another state, in 2018 the student completed half of year of school and withdrew in the second semester, for 2019, kid was undecided if they would continue their studies and didn't enrolled but continued to live in another state. TP still provided 100% of the support but since the kid was not a student, would the TP qualify as HOH for 2019? (According to me NO) Went back to the IRS rules and just want to make sure the problem is by the kid not being a student for the year. I reached out directly to the kid just to verify the student status for 2019. Thanks
  24. I was remotely log-in to another client computer (Sch C client) and when the question about the employees came up, they have zero employees and that is what was entered, but owners information was entered and the application was completed. So for the 2 shareholder business, I could see them entering the two shareholder=owners (with zero employees) information and completing the application. The Sch C client has not reached to me yet, so I don’t know if they received $1,000. I believe my client filled out the application truthfully and I appreciate the concerns, most of us have been supporting our client in whatever we can.
