  2. Hello Rita, it sounds like it was a complete reinstallation, input the code and you should be back and running, it might require for you to update the all the forms.

  4. Ok, I will ask if it was a Pell Grant, which will be repaid back afterward, in case it was then it's not a problem, just to report box 2. Also, for example if the student recieved a scholarship, I would need to reduce it from Box 1 or 2 or I can report the scholarship as income on the parents tax return and fully report Box 1 or 2?
  5. I am looking at 2012 Quickfinder under education tax credits and I am seeing that total qualfied education expenses (box 1 or box 2) has to be reduced by box 5. So I have this situation, TP dependent recieved a 1098-T with $5000 on box 2, and $9000 on Box 5, so if I reduce from box 5, I come up with a negative $4000 which doesn't make sense, but I am assuming they don't qualify for the credit? I would appreciated if someone can shine so light on this. Thanks MAS
  6. What is the cost for Proseries (equivalent to ATX Max package) this year? Back in 2005 or 2006 the cost was about $3000-$3500 plus the cost of additional states. Also, don't know if this is true but my associate says the HR Block sells their tax software for tax preparer, I check their website but I only software for personal use, any know if this true? MAS
  7. I know our state of IL, was considering making Service be taxable and I think it will happen too
  8. Next time try this: So your friend already recieved their refund you say? Well bring me a copy of their tax return and bank statement to proof they already recieved it, this usually quites them up. It has worked for me.
  9. Direct them to the IRS where is my refund website, and keep on working
  10. A lady walks into an optometrist office and tells them, "I want to return these eyeglasses I bought for my husband", the optometrist asks why? Lady responds, "he still can't see things my way".

  12. I would say to apply for an ITIN and file MFJ, if the spouse is petitioning for her for immigration purpose it is a NO NO to do anything that is not MFJ, if she lived in another country besides Mexico and Canada then MFS and using a special code instead of SSN. MAS
  13. How can I completely remove ATX2012 from a WIN7 machine? I created a temporary client, removed ATX via uninstall program, rebooted and reinstalled ATX and the darn client appears, this is telling me it wasn't completely removed. Second try, I deleted ATX2012 folder (shift-del), uninstalled it, rebooted, reinstalled and the client reappears. Any suggestions? Thanks MAS
  14. IRS has approved form 4562 as of Feb. 10, 2013 however ATX shows it's still not available for efiling, can someone confirm this is a problem with ATX or your is okay? Thanks MAS
  15. Speaking of things that bothers us, when a client calls, voicemail pickups and they are waiting for you to answer the call, or say are you there, please pick up the phone !@#$& Voicemail is not like the old answering machines!!!
  16. Do you usually remove forms not in use for the current year? I have a client that had the energy credit for 2011, in 2012 it's giving me a error that the form is not available for e-file, they took the max credit and would make a difference in 2012, I should have no problem deleting the form?
  17. NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just don't go postal on them, I bet many people would join.
  18. Thanks Ray, I am afraid calling tech support because of the wait time.
  19. I am trying to figure out if things are different for 2012. If you create or rollover a client a one computer, make changes and save it and close the client, then you go to another computer. Should that client appear on all the computers or only the computer where you opened it first? Don't know if this is how 2012 works, but it prior years every computer had the same return manager. At first I wasn't having any issues with ATX, boy I'm getting frustrated
  20. I hope you have unlimited calling and patiences
  21. Sorry you are correct, I did not read your question properly, but I would say yes if she/he was defending her property.
  22. see point #2 http://www.dailyfinance.com/2010/03/09/10-expenses-you-may-think-you-can-deduct-on-your-taxes-but-you/
  23. Have you considered having two split systems? I have one XP computer that has ATX 2005 to 2008, my second computer has 2009 to 2012. If I need take a look at an old file, I just turn on the computer and turn it off when done, saves resources on the newer computer. Same goes for my quick books program.
  24. Does anyone know where is the return manager database folder located? I need to make sure the permission are set correctly, for some reason the 10 clients I have rolled over don't appear on the new PC, I can see all clients under roll over.
  25. I will send a PM with my email, maybe you can email me the link.
