I have had EVERY NYS return rejected - -between 3-5 days after IRS acceptance!!! I saw that there was a small "glitch" in the program ( YA THINK???) and just refile. Sooooooooooooo I did - - -it takes 10 minutes to open recompute & efile each return - - with luck I can get through 3-4 returns before the program crashes & I have to do a total reboot. Sooooooo - -here I sit - -spending an hr every morning - -just trying to correct the "glitches" of last night. :wall: :wall: :wall:

WHY did I have to do this AGAIN?? Oh yeah - -make SURE you are not online at the time. for the record - -Vista 86 - -stand alone -- still no response form tech support - -I was told 3 WEEKS ago they would get back to me. :dunno:
-
OMG!!! Did the download from the support site - - ran the exe file - - -did a HARD REBOOT - - - -opened up ATX - - - GUESS WHAT??????? Did a rollover - - attempted to open - - - -yep - -RIGHT BACK TO FREEKIN SQUARE ONE - - -ROLLOVER NOT POSSIBLE ERROR!!!!! but - -THE good news - -i HAVE NOONE SCHEDULED TODAY - - -thought I would play catch up and get ahead. ANY - - - ANY - - - -ANY suggestions? :wall: :wall:
-
Received an email from Intuit overnight - - wonder how they know who has ATX????
-
I have heard of it - - never had the TIME to actually watch it - -but this - - TIME is all I have. After reading the article in Accounting Today - -I wonder if that is the reason this particular non-informative show was put together. Thanks for the "apology" - -but when can we actually get to work?
-
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - -I know that feeling!!! Good for you!
-
Sadly, the User manual does not address the software "fixes", but I have actually downloaded it - -am in the process of reading it - -since this is my 4th time on hold - -and I have all this time to read it!!!
-
Pretty much says it all - -except it is no better in Vista
-
THANK YOU!!!! I believe they call this an "ID-10-T" error - - I seriously thought I was putting the info on the correct line - -I am not going to blame the lag time for input - - but the rhythm is OFF! Thank You again! - - -OY!
-
YEP - - go to the support page to update - -do not do it through the program. I highly suggest first - -tun OFF auto updates of program and forms - -then after saving & running the exe file - -open the program - -manually download all updated forms - -then do a HARD REBOOT. Good LUCK!!!

Now that a very fortunate few of us are actually getting some work done (after spending a total of 5 hrs on phone - -countless hours trying to get the program working and doing some very scary file name changes) I have an actual tax question! Client pulled $3500 (out of a total 4800) in ROTH annuity last year. When she called me - -she told me that she was taking a return of her investment (started in 2001 - -stopped contributing in 2005). This resulted in a 1099R that has Tax amount not determined and - - -wait - - -for it - - -Distribution code "J". No she is not 59 1/2, but her agent (you know - -the ones who are always there) yesterday told her it was a withdrawal of her investment. My problem is - - this woman ( who WORKS for the company) - -has NO IDEA what I was asking for - - -I kid you not - -5 phone calls yesterday. Do I try to get her company to correct the 1099R??? Or is there a way to explain this and take the penalty and tax off. It is going to be a L- - - - O - - - -N - - - - -G SEASON!

THANKS ALL!!!! WE really need this - - especially this year!!!

Decision time - is anyone having program success?

OK - -I was one of the LOUDEST complainers - - I have spent 2 1/2 weeks of time & $$$ trying to get this program to work. Today - -after a LONG download of 12.5 - -I just did my first 1040 - - taking way too much time still - -but it IS working - -kind of. Good luck! -
Took 20 minutes - - I am running a 2 yr old Gateway Vista 4 with 4 g RAM - - and then the install took 5 minutes. Rollover was like 2011 - -speedy Opening a simple 1 W-2, single return took 3 minutes, but everything appears to be there. I actually closed the program & the second time I opened the SAVED return - -it took about 30 seconds - - - Progress!!!! But - -I have lost 2 weeks - - -$$ and patience - - -I did however - -NOT lose weight - - -
-
I REALLY needed that this morning - - -THANKS Florida Tax Man! :wall:
-
I agree - -I have tried EVERYTHING - -purged spyware, malware, background programs - -I do disc cleanup every day, but the program still is sluggish opening a return. I engaged an IT professional to come over to help speed things up, but alas no avail - -time & $$ wasted. It appears they fixed the rollover speed, but darn if it still takes 4-5 minutes to open a return that may have had a form update. So, the GOOD news - - -I am getting a LOT of "busy" work done in the office. The BAD news - - -I will have to tack on 15-30 minutes minimum for EACH client appointment. Since I am somewhat retired (went from 640 returns in 2002 to a current 150) I can handle this. I feel very sorry for those of you who really need the time management that you used to have.

Ok - -we all have clients that need to "guestimate" their 2012 tax liability by 1/15/13. When I used the 2011 planner for 2012 - -a few clients had a very large AMT tax included in their 2012 estimate. I KNOW that the laws changed very late in 2012 - -so don't jump on me yet please! When I FINALLY was able to roll over a couple of them yesterday and today - - - the difference was a staggering $8000 - -$5000 and $4000!!!! A HUGE difference in the amount needed for estimated tax purposes - -but it came to late. THIS is the reason we pay the $$$$ for - - -this is what keeps clients coming back - -the ability to not only prepare current tax years, but to help them plan for the future. So, while I realize that the tax law had changed very late in the year (don't know how many times I am going to have to repeat this), but I am still disappointed in the slowness of the 2012 program, in opening up clients, imputing numbers and overall sluggishness. My 2 cents.

Just downloaded 12.4 - - --observations: Rollover - -SUPER FAST - -thank you! Opening up a return with 1 w-2, single - -takes about a minute - -that I can live with Opening up a return that has ANY thing else - - -dependents - -multiple w-2's - -crashes the program - - -can take 3 minutes ATTEMPTING to open a return that has sched C & depreciation - - -not gonna happen - -probably never at this point :wall: :wall:

Margaret - -go buy a lottery ticket!!!
-
Bull dog - -haven't really tried a lot more yet Lloyd - - actually Travis the Tech support called me & uninstalled & reinstalled 12.1 on Sat Clay - -I haven't had that problem Augusthv - -go buy a lottery ticket!!!!!!
-
I could not install the program from the disk when it arrived in Dec - -so I installed via internet 12.1 download - - -all was good - - -or so I thought. I tried to rollover a return last week - - not a lot of luck. Spent hours trying, saw there was an update of 12.2 and downloaded that - -but I had the same problems - -no error codes - -just no rollover of a return that had any depreciation, sched C etc - - finally gave up and posted on the other board. Sat 9 am Travis the Tech called me!!!! One hr later of him trying everything - -finally he uninstalled - - -and reinstalled - -and TA DA - - a mere 1 hr later - -I was able to rollover and open a 1 W-2 , Single - -no dependents - - in a mere 8 minutes!!!!! So this am I tried the 12.3 update and have SLASHED that time to 5 minutes!!!!! It's going to be a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG tax season - - -
-
Just dowloaded the newest update 12.3 - - -observations: Before in 12.1 - -time to rollover simple return - - - - 3 minutes - - now - - 2 min in 40 seconds Before in 12.1 - -time to rollover returns with depreciation, sched C etc - - - 8 - 15 minutes - - -now - - -5 minutes Before in 12.1 - - -time to OPEN up simple return after rollover - - 4 minutes - - - -now - - -2 minutes Before in 12.1 - -time to OPEN up more complex returns after rollover - - -- 8 minutes - -now - - -5 minutes. Sooooooooooo I now have to build in "opening" time - -no longer will I get a call and be able to open a return while the client is on the phone - -unless I have ESP and start the process BEFORE they call. While I admit - -they have improved the program - - - - I just don't see the value - - - -yet.
