I just LOVE it when I have a client who was "talking to guys at the Senior Center" and want to know why he didn't get an energy credit for a natural gas generator that he had put in. It's a backup generator. Am I missing something?? Thank You! Terry O

I have been efiling with atx for a number of years - - and NONE of the 1065 or 1120S are new or being accepted - -
-
I have asked this question before - -and apparnetly, it's hit & miss --I finally gave up & printed out all my 1120S & 1065's ALONG with a 1040 that could not be efiled due to the inability of the program to use the K-1 info for self employment SEP - - -not happy - -and I wasted countless hours over this! I hope you & other have better luck than I did!
-
Ok - -so, I have TOTALLY given up trying to e-file any 1120-S or 1065 - -live & learn that things just don't work. Now, I have successfully e-filed a 104 with 1120-S K-1 info - -BUT - -I have a client that has a SEP deduction that the program will NOT allow - -it is telling me he has no self employment - - - -I did it LAST year - -no problems - -this year - -no go - - And there is an error regarding sect 179 deduction - -that is NOT there. any body have success with this?? Thanks ! Terry O

Ok - -soooooooooooooooo after countless hours of trying to get either any 1065 OR 1120S tax returns e-filed, I have given up & will manually send them in - - -happy - -NO!! BUT - -NOW, I am having trouble getting 1120S K-1 info to correctly transfer over to the 1040 for e-filing - - - I am getting an error code that SEP deduction is incorrect due to no se income - - AND - -the K-1 income is not correctly transferring over to the SE - - I had tomanually input it on the form - -since there is no line for the 1120S info I am doping it EXACTLY as I had last year - -which worked for the 1040 - - - NOW - -before I put either my head - -or the computer into the wall - -has anyone figured out HOW to do this for e-filing??? Thanks!!! Terry O

I'm sorry - -yes I meant 4/15 - - BUT - -for the first time in 27 years, I will NOT be around for 4/15 - -sooooooooooooo I have all my clients ready to go - - -and STILL can't e-file the returns - - YUK!!!
-
At least you are able to e-file the 1120S - - not only can I NOT file the Scorps - -can't get the partnerships either - - YUK!!!
-
Thanks for the response - - sorry for the delay - -major snow storm here - - I am ATTEMPTING to file a 1065 that only has rental activity - - I am STILL getting the rejection code MEFUSR0000-905 seq 0 - - NO response from ATX - -no surprise - -I am giving it one more day here on the community - -then I have no choice but to print & get it to the client so HE can get it out by the 15th!
-
At least you got to "validated" - - and NYS also has to be paper filed - -but heck - - since I can't get out of my driveway - -might as well hold out hope until Monday!!!
-
I have tried ALL the above suggestions - -I have a 1065 with rental income only - -got rid of the SE - - -still getting the SAME error - - Sooooooooooooooooo, does ANYONE have any other suggestions?? I also cannot efile any 1120S returns - - - yuk!!! Stuck in 10 inches of HEAVY snow in buffalo - -so I am getting caught up!!! Thanks! Terry O

I have a client that left me a few years ago with a Sched C - -came back last year with Sub S corp for 2004 & 5. I file for 2006 - -the IRS has NO record of ever receiving the election for those 2 years . IRS is not happy. Now the fact that the client sat on those letters - - -"it didn't say payment due so I ignored them" means there's enough blame for everyone!!! I tried multiple times in the past few months to contact the CPA who filed the returns - -he finally has his SECRETARY call me yesterday to say they relied on the lawyers word - -they will NOT accept responsibility for amending - -no responsibility for any interest or penalties that may occur - - - BUT WAIT - - -THERE'S MORE - - - -they never even gave the client copies of the tax return - - only a few select pages!!! AND - -heaven only knows where the "lawyer" is - - - -
Yeah - -sadly, I was correct - - client owes a LOT - - but the good news - -he was WELL aware of it. Normally, when I hear " I was talking to the guys at work/the bar" I cringe - - - but this time - -he had gotten the head's up. And they talk about NYS taxes - - -wow
-
My son's VT return switches over to a paper check every year - - -not sure if it's because he's residence is in NY, but the IRS goes in like clockwork . . . .
-
WOW - - and everyone talks about NY taxes !!!
-
OK - -in the interest of saving time - -I finally decided to first - -print up the RITA & CCA - -then delete them from the return - - THEN - -I efiled the OH to get the refund & will have the taxpayer mail in the RITA & CCA with the respective checks. inventive - -yes - - - time saving for refunds - - -yes time saving for taxpayer - -no getting the right refund from OH - - -PRICELESS!!!!
-
I want to efile a client's Ohio tax return refund of $160, but he worked in Highland Hills & Cleveleand ( balance due for HH is $5) and lives in Shaker Heights (form 37 - -large balance due) My questions are - - - if I efile his OH return - -will the RITA & CCA also efile? Will his refund be credited towards the other balance due? Am I better off just having him mail all the different Oh tax forms? Thanks!!!
-
I have a client who lives in Shaker Heights, Oh - -I just prepared the Oh 37 - -can it be possible that they owe an additional $1041 resident taxes on 80K AFTER paying Ohio taxes of 3000, and working municipal taxes of 1600 ?? WOW - - Thank You!
-
Actually ( I think because of "billable hours) none of the money was distributed until 2008 - - soooooooooooo, If I understand you correctly - -ALL income is to be reported on the 1041. OUCH!!! thanks!
-
Single taxpayer passed away 12/06, and the lawyers took almost a YEAR to get a Fiduciary id number - - For 2007 , there are 1099's with the taxpayer's SS# with interest, dividends, capital gains - -sale of stock etc. AND - -there are statement's with the Fiduciary # - -including a 1099 misc with NON EMPLOYEE compensation - - I believe that is from the proceeds of assets from an inherited estate! My question, do I report it all on the fiduciary return? Thanks!

I thought Q was the gaget guru in the James bond movies - -we actually met the actor at a car show in Toronto!!

Am I missing something? Is there a deduction for private grammar school tuition either on the 1040 or NYS??? I thought it was only for the withdrawal of ESA's - -but - -it's been a VERY long day. thanks! Terry O
-
I have 2 questions - - 1) Where do I get the 1040X letter? 2) Why does the state efiling instructions NOT carry over to the combined Fed/State letter all the time?? I have ran the wizzard - -before - -during - -after - - -sometimes it works - -and sometimes it doesn't - - Am I missing something? Thanks! Terry O

I NEVER give my clients a date for deposits or refunds - -after 27 yrs in the business - - I have seen it all!! My usual response is " about 2-3 weeks" - -they are ALWAYS happy when they get it in 10 days or so.
