  7. One of the reasons I like to visit this Board is to check out the various questions/answers that are given here. Sometimes I find situations that I actually run across in my practice, and I can use the info given. However, during tax season, I find that a little HUMOR is also helpful. You have to admit that some tax work is BORING and MONOTINOUS (spelling?). Maybe sometimes the humor isn't all that funny, but it's humor none-the-less. If you take yourself too seriously, you'll miss out on alot of life. Booger, CPA (28th year in tax practice)

Thanks to all who responded to my question. Had a brain cramp when I asked it. Decided to add a Schedule C-EZ to his return, then had the 1099-MISC"s flow to that form. Booger

    1099-MISC

Have a police officer who does some security work in his spare time. How do I get the 1099-MISC amount to "flow" to Schedule SE, since this amount is subject to SE tax?

  14. How about checking Part-Year Resident for both, then reducing the combined income by the amount not taxed by Michigan? What you should end up with is the wife's income earned in Michigan. Just a thought. Booger
  15. Newbie, is there a NO (NON) RESIDENT selection on the Michigan Return for the husband? Booger
  16. JB, You're lucky to have clients like that. I have to hear complaints about taxes being way too high, Uncle Sam wastes our money, BLAH BLAH BLAH. Good thing I've learned to LOOK like I'm listening, when I'm NOT (works great when the wife is talking to me). Booger

  22. Found my answer......qualified residential energy property used in new construction DOES QUALIFY. See page 10-6 of 1040 express answers. Booger
  23. Taxpayer had his home built in 2007. He has asked whether certain energy efficient items qualify for the energy credit (NOT SOLAR). I believe that in order to qualify for the credit, the taxpayer has to REPLACE an existing unit for a more energy efficient unit. New construction DOES NOT QUALIFY. Am I correct? Thanks, Booger
  24. Great Job, Single Dad. How's having 2 offices going? Hopefully you're EXTREMELY busy! Booger
