I now have 4 clients that have received the letter to prove their identity. So far we've done nothing but go around in circles with these things.

I have a spreadsheet that goes back as far as 2001 for my billing. But I had -until 2019 -awesome secretaries helping me. In 2020 I had a number of idiots and 2021 hasn't been much better. My spreadsheet system seems too overwhelming for them. (let's see, column for name, column for type of work, column for charge, column for amount received, column for date. Yeah - that's a lot for people to handle any more.) (Sorry - I'm a little sarcastic, but I just don't know why it's complicated.) How do you guys track billing and income?

Batch Extensions (4868) - is this possible in ATX?
schirallicpa replied to Teresa K's topic in General Chat
I feel like we could batch efile extensions at one time. But not now. And I agree - you might consider bumping up out of the ATX level. -
I did not know that. Thank you.

I saw that that was an option. I'll check that out today and see what we need to do.

I have a corp that we didn't know existed. That should have been filing in the past. They are located in NYS. And they have a sizable income. I cannot efile just the estimated payment. I have to do it thru EFTPS which i just realized so now I'm not likely to have the PIN number by the 15th. What is with that. They give you your EFIN number immediately when you apply, but I gotta wait for a darned PIN number that I am using to GIVE them money. Then - NYS - I set up an online business account for that and it says "Our records show that your business is not registered to pay corporation tax in New York State. If you believe our records are incorrect, call our Corporation Tax Information Center." Are you kidding me.............Again...trying to give them money.

Did you every figure out which to go with?

I read your teaser line and looked at this the other day (and got a quick laugh.) But I fell for it again and am laughing again. I keep reading that and thinking you're in an AA program or giving up a tax-practice secret. (which half of my tax practice secret is the alcohol.....) Good grief.

anyone put together a letter yet for CTC paperwork
schirallicpa replied to schirallicpa's topic in General Chat
A tool would be awesome. Hopefully they have one AND keep it available for a while. I still need the first round stimulus tool............ -
I really dread this tax season. I was going to spit out a letter to my clients with children that they need to bring me their letter from the IRS and confirm the amounts reported. Which you know won't be right........... Which you know the letter won't get out til March................

After so many lost returns and lost payments over the last few months, whether I like it or not, I'm full on-board with electronic filing and payment.

Have you guys gotten email about cloud based CCH Axcess?

currently on "flash sale" - who uses this and please give me some pointers and suggestions. -
Perhaps a dumb question. But the LLC is not incorporated. Do I answer these questions?

Deceased TP had land in corp in another state

Deceased TP had land in corp in another state
schirallicpa replied to schirallicpa's topic in General Chat
Good grief - no - that was not edited quick enough. It seems that the spouse became president of the corp at the TPs death. So now it is all the corps problem. So - nevermind. -
I don't know why people do this. The Deceased TP had a ATT power station that he rented to ATT each year. But the real estate and rental was in a corp. The corp was created in Deleware. Property and TP are in NY. Nothing in will to take care of this. Deceased TP was 100% SH of corp. Lawyers have to move real estate from estate to TP's spouse in order to make a transaction with ATT (ATT is buying out the contract for 340,000). This was moved this past summer. Not sure why ATT didn't deal with estate directly. Is gain on sale to the spouse LT or ST? I'm feeling LT but when I did estimates in May I ran ST and now I'm questioning myself.

I haven't really figured out what IFirm is used for except to track billing. Maybe for audit firms(?) or larger accounting firms. Doesn't seem practical for solo tax prep. Let me know if you use it and how you use it.

And is there another choice?

is anyone familiar or use the Tax Protection Plan?
schirallicpa replied to WITAXLADY's topic in General Chat
I probably agree with you but wondering if you could give reason. -
I've spent most of my adult life with a keyboard with a numerical keypad, and a mouse. Considering getting a laptop just to try to do a little more at home. Any suggestions? (besides a numerical keypad to plug into it.)??

Here They come - Letters recalculating the stimulus credit
schirallicpa replied to Corduroy Frog's topic in General Chat
just received from a client IRS Form Letter 6470 that says he either had too much income or already received it. I'm thinking this is going to be a debit card one that the TP never realized was his stimulus and threw away. This has all turned into such a mess. In 5 years someone will have calculated the cost of this stimulus BS and it will well exceed the benefit. Kinda like Obamacare. Nonsense! -
Just wondering if anyone has a suggestion for planning/forecasting software. I haven't used any in a while. The last one I used was a very cumbersome excel based template. I need something to run and forecast numbers for a Taxpayer that is looking to finance purchase of an existing business.

How many notices have your clients received from IRS stating that IRS has not received their $$. This is my new summer work. And of course, even though I told every single person that was sending a check by mail to copy their check and at least use priority mail, most did not.

I just got someone done real quick because they need to get financial aid for their child's college. I'm thinking that when it's accepted vs. when it's actually processed may hold up the processing of FAFSA too. They have unemployment. The dominos never stop dropping.
