Acknowledgments will not start coming until Sunday. This is what was posted on the MYATX website. IRS began receiving them on Friday, but will not send acknowledgments back until Sunday. Check Sunday and hopefully they will be there. Deb!

I wasn't able to do it from this set of instructions as that file was never loaded originally on my computer. I had to insert the disk into the machine and navigate to it through my computer. It didn't take long to install but I would have never been able to do it without the help from support. I tried this document first, but the tech guy said they had been taught the other way by going directly to the CD. On one of my computers I installed the netframework thing directly from Microsoft before installing the program and this also worked fine. All I know is that unless the program is installed you will have problems with ATX. This is the first year it was designed that way but the tech guy told me it is a must to have it installed on your computer. Deb!

No acks expected till Sunday per info on ATX site. This is the norm for first day filing. Start panicking if you have not heard anything Monday! Deb!
-
Go to control panel, add install programs and check to see if you have this program. If you do not that is what the problem is all about. You must have this program to use ATX this year. If you do not have this problem you will need to contact support, and in just a matter of minutes they should have you up and running. Deb!

Also make sure you have selected direct deposit as the option. The first return I tried creating an e-file for was preselected for one of the additional fee methods. Don't know if this is the problem, but worth checking. Deb!

When I first installed my program I had a problem and called tech support who asked me if I got your specific error message, but I couldn't even get to the point were you are at. The problem I had was with the NET Framework 2.0. He helped me get this problem fixed and everything seems fine now! What puzzles me about yours however, is that this problem just showed itself. Mine was right from the start, the very first time I tried opening the program. Deb!

[NT] Updated Picture for MonkeyMan

There could be some copy right issues regarding the use of this for advertisement as it is already being used to promote one of the big name credit cards. But I agree it is catchy! Deb! -
My memory is a little bit foggy, but I believe we were able to do just that last year. The problem as I remember it was that they had so many, quite a few got caught in the system, and we screamed and yelled about their lack in being able to transmit and get acks back for us. So I believe this year they are trying to prevent that by not allowing us to complete anything doing with e-file until everyone is ready to begin processing. Deb!

Glad I could help! Deb!

According to MYATX site, the 1040 series has been approved for e-file, however the estimated release date is 1/15. Check back on Thursday and it should be available then. They usually do not release the e-file info form until then so that we don't prematurely send them returns that have to sit there and waite till the can begin processing them to IRS. Hope this helps! Deb!

That's probably because the word is finally spreading that all of us that use to use the old site have found our home here! I love the people here, many are the same ones that made the old ATX Community a vital part of the tax season. When it was yanked away we felt lost and all alone. I was able to find this site within a few days and felt so totally at ease when I saw the familiar names. It has taken a long time for some of the others, however, to find us. Slowly they are coming and this site is getting better and better! Thanks again to those responsible! And whoever reads this post, just a reminder this is a site supported by volunteer donations, so as you can, don't forget to support the site! Deb!

It is so refreshing to see all the posts that are coming in. I check daily and you can sure tell the season is heating up. I already have learned so much and really enjoy the variety! I have also learned some tips regarding rolling over the preparer info. I tried the suggestion and it works, now I don't have to re-enter all the info on the preparer tabs each year. I especially like that because there is less likely of an error. Keep up the great posts! We are learn so much from each other! Deb!

The 300 would have nothing to do with a qualifying child, it has to do with the tax payer's change in taxable income. The tax payer would not have gotten anything last year for the child claimed because age was a factor, 17 I believe! Deb!

Thanks for the heads up! I know we will all have to refer to this often! Deb!

Who Working and Who is having Fun Today
Tax Prep by Deb replied to ed_accountant's topic in General Chat
I too have decided to keep my rates the same as last year. I took a substantial increase last year, lost a few clients but gained others, but with the economy the way it is I decided to not raise. I'm expecting a decrease in clients this year due to the economy (preparing them themselves), but I have determined that even if I lose up to half I still should be o.k. No doubt about it, it is going to be a difficult year! Deb! -

For me it's a little work, and a little play! Deb! -
I also have had a couple of problems that I had to call tech support for. There is a marked improvement over last year. They actually know something about our program. The first time I was up and running within 30 minutes. The second call turned out to be about 4 hrs plus a call back. I did get the call back and within 30 minutes we had the problem isolated. It was a network issue and it turned out to be my lap top that was causing the problem. This was the only year I wanted my lap top networked to ATX but for some reason it would not comply. So I gave up rather than spend hours trying to fix it, and now everything is working as it should. Again, I feel ATX support has greatly improved. Of course the real test will be when they fire up the e-file servers! Deb!

Can someone tell me if a short sale would qualify under the mortgage debt foregiveness act? Or does it only apply in the case of foreclosure? Deb!

Due date extended for some 2008 returns
Tax Prep by Deb replied to kcjenkins's topic in General Chat
I totally agree, however in the past I was the type that would put the reports in the mail as soon as I finished them. Then one of my clients came in and told me there was an incorrect social security number on his employees w-2 (the dreadful inverted number) not from me but the record as it was turned into me. As a result I had to do a corrected w-2 and w-3, whereas had I procrastinated till the dead line would have been much easier to fix, as was pointed out to me by someone on the community. So I personally appreciate whatever extra time I have! Deb! -

Thanks for the heads up. Sometimes just a couple of extra days can make all the difference in the world! Deb! -
Thanks, that sort of what I just saw on IRS site but I just wanted to be sure. Deb!

Does anybody know if we can print 1099's on plain paper this year or do we still have to print on the pink paper? Deb!
