  1. I could do that, but I have my preferences set to remove assets when disposed of and if I change it to personal use, I'm afraid next year my asset history will be gone.
  2. I tried that it doesn't work for me. Nothing I do makes it stay at 0. I can get it down to 1% but not 0%
  3. Tried that, but it changes back to 100%
  4. I hadn't thought about that but that would work. I don't want to lose my history in case next year it is rented again, but it won't let me change the use to 0 in the asset entry screen as previously suggested. I try that and it changes back to 100%
  5. I have a client who has a mobile home that they have rented out for many years. 2012 because of health issues they decided to not rent it out. It was not rented for all of 2012 nor do I believe they tried to rent it out. I do believe the intent is to continue renting it but not right now. ATX keeps inputting depreciation and when I try to change the usage to 0% it reverts back to 100%. I would just convert it to personal use but it's still going to figure some depreciation. Anybody know what I may be doing wrong? Deb!
  6. Okay, I've been tossing this one around for a while now and the more I read the more confused I get. I have a client who had a rental property that was fore-closed upon. The only document he has received is a 1099-A. It shows fmv of $314,000 and balance of principal outstanding loand $44,180 (This is the second on the house, no paperwork so far from the 1st). Do I need to report anything this year like the sell of the rental or do I wait for more documentation? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Deb!
  7. I quote an hourly rate to begin with. I have a monthly minimum so that I can allocate at least that much time to the client. I tell them that after several months at the hourly rate that I will then set it to a monthly rate (helps them budget and helps me budget as well). Then as their business picks up and starts to generate more paperwork (or in the case of an established business who begins to grow) we will re-evaluate pricing down the road. As for payroll, I charge a set fee per paycheck generated, then a set fee for the quarterly, a set fee for each W-2 and 1099 and a set fee for annual reports. I know my pricing is too low, but I've never had to look for work and my bookkeeping clients are great! I only have one that gives me a little problem and it's simply because he is extremely busy and slow about getting me the work on a monthly basis. Last year he piled it up towards the end and I'm still not done so therefore his taxes are on extension. He's not happy about that but understands he created the problem, not me. Deb!
  8. During the Holiday's Costco has a Cranberry Cinnamon Goat Cheese log that is absolutely wonderful. Deb!
  9. I tried one last month and received an error that the signature date had to be of the same processing year. I had it dated for 2013 but it wouldn't accept that year. Maybe they have it fixed now. Deb!
  10. Love it! I feel like I'm drowning in a sea or paperwork! Deb! (Quick, someone throw me a life vest)!
  11. Nope, I had no problem filing the form thru e-service. Now I want to call and talk to someone. I'm just wondering how much time I have to allow before I call. Deb!
  12. I used the IRS e-service for the first time this morning to electronically submit form 8821 because they would not give me any information on my clients refund that is being held up (EIC filed on 1/3/13). They say they can't confirm my 3rd party authorization so my clients agreed to have me file the 8821 (I filed one for each). My question is how long before this will show up in their system so I can call? Thanks in advance, Deb!
  13. I believe you can retrieve it online from social security but your client has to set up an account with them. At least I remember seeing that ability in the past. Deb!
  14. If it's a federal return, I would be. I sent one this morning and it's already acknowledged. If it's a state return, well that's a different story. I've had some of them take 5 days to clear. Deb!
  15. For those who think page 4 isn't sent look again. What is not sent is the very last past for us to make our notes on. I personal notes are not sent but pages 1-4 of that form go with the return, and yes I do believe it's the checkmark for disabled child that is causing a lot of the problem. Deb!
  16. I'm sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet. We think we are pet owner's but the truth is our pets own us and we love them for it. Deb!
  17. Ditto! Deb!
  18. Wow that's old for a cat. I thought mine was doing good to be 14 1/2 but I can't imagine any small animal living that long. I absolutely love my animals but it kills me to see them sick and in pain. At least for now mine is improving, but last time after two weeks she had a relapse, waiting till Friday to see if we get past it this time.! Deb!
  19. I agree, I just took a look and it seems that someone has used the same dependent social for the tax return as wells as for eic. Deb!
  20. Can't remember what my codes were but I also had both one of which said they had already been claimed. Took another look at the social and saw that I took a 3 for an 8, changed the number resubmitted and it went through. So check and double check the social. Deb!
  21. Joan I also have a sick kitty (I thought she was going to die) and a sick puppy (15 1/2 years old and thought she was also dying) not to mention all the other ups and downs that life throws at you. So I can truly sympathize. I calculated this morning that in the past three weeks I've spent about $500 in vet bills not to mention other things I've had to get to care for two senior pets (the cat's 14 1/2 years old). I can't wait till April 15th
  22. But here again I have to say that even if we do all the checks and rechecks, that first weeks I had check marks that kept disappearing. Now I'm finding it went much deepe than I originally thought. I opened a return that was e-file with a schedule C attached and qualified for EIC. I did the due dillegence worksheets, all 4 of them and even included some additional information on the page that isn't transmitted. I know I selected the information on the schedule C that I relied on to verify income, but now that I repopened the return all that info is missing. I also agree with the statement that if the child is within the specified age why do we have to designate that the child is not disabled? Also why did a minute few get by and rerunds issued with exactly the same info? Also what about the several other returns that didn't have EIC that have not cleared yet. I can go on and on and on. The problem is when we submit a return after reviewing it we expect it to transmit that way, but unfortunately in my case this wasn't so. I did my due dillegence, I expect my software to do its! Deb!
  23. But here is a problem I have run into. I did complete the forms, put the approriate checkmarks, sometimes having to go back a second or third time to get them to stick. Now I open one return in particular that I know I answered the questions regarding self-employed and now nothing is marked. I didn't un mark them the program did. So now my clien'ts refund has been held up because the software failed to perform it's due dilligence! Deb!
  24. Mine went through just fine.
