I guess I wasn't clear with my previous post. I know the Square reader is free and yes I know there is processing fees, what I was getting at had to do with is my phone or tablet compatible? If not I would have to buy a different phone or a different tablet. I went to Target yesterday and purchased the reader for $9.99 and set my account up and have already been issued a $10.00 credit to my account for the reader and I have already tested it on my phone. I'm all set now! Deb!

According to the official ATX they are working on the current year 2013 organizer and will release later. (everyone is assuming towards the end of this month)

I haven't had any problem logging in. I did mess up on my password once, but they were able to help me get it unlocked. They are suppose to be making it easier. Have you tried forgot my password link? Also what is your user name? Mine is still Admin with my customer number and then password. Deb!

You will have to go to the ATX website, log in and go to the download screen. Look all the way down to were it says prior years update, and I would choose 2012 program save the download to a disk or thumb drive, then select the 2012 program update and save it to disk or thumb drive, then do the forms update, save to disk or thumb drive. You will have to choose the save as option so that you can select the drive. It's possible the 2012 program update has all of this info, but if it doesn't at least you will have everything you need to install. Hope this helps! Deb

Has anyone been able to use Square with a Motorola Atrix HD? I've read mixed comments about it not being supported. I want to try it, but I only have a 10" pad (which square says isn't compatible) and my Motorola phone. I hate to have to buy something else just to use it. Deb!

When I renewed with ATX I was originally quoted the full price, but when I mentioned that I heard they were offering a discount because of last years mess, my rep said oh, you want the promotional rate of 995.00 with the defered payment option, I said I sure do, and that was all there was to it.

Had my first one two months ago for mid march.

I stopped beating my dead horses two years ago and upgraded to 7. All I can say is wow, what a difference. I loved my XP machines, but they were getting slower and more vulnerable to viruses that I finally took the plunge. No regrets whatsoever and not even a big learning curve for 7. Deb!

I would think too, that it would depend on your specs as well. Very seldom, even if bought at the same time, will you find two computer's built exactly the same way with all the same parts. I would think that the up-date could be different based on the guts of your computer.

It is Max but it was 1245.00 and something to begin with. I think you are referring to their most expensive suite, this is the middle one. Deb

I renewed on the 31 of October. My original quote was the regular price, but when I mentioned that others had gotten it for 995.00 they gave it to me with no problem at all, I even got the deferred billing. I would call and ask. Deb!

Great One! Days gone by!

I was just wondering the same thing. I had read earlier that some were getting a discount and deferred payment, but I haven't heard anything else. Deb!

I had one that I had problems with, went to MyATX site, checked on e-file status, rejection error and it gave me a much better detail of what the problem was. Have you tried that? This year that fail scheme etc.... has been a pain the you know what! But I was able to clear my up by looking on the e-file info part of their website. Deb!

I had that problem yesterday, but after I closed the program and re-opened it, I was able to get both (very detailed and complex returns) to open side by side which was perfect as I was needing to explain something to my client and needed copy 1 and copy 2 open so I could toggle between them.
-
Yes I did. Maybe not to the degree that you did, but I did do a return with over 12 rentals and I really didn't see any lag. Early on I did but after one of the releases it took care of my problem so by the time I did that return I had not problem. Keep in mind I only have around 250 clients, most of which are very simple and only a few with multiple states and only a handful with k1's. I also am not set up on a network which really seems to be where a lot of the problems stemmed from. But honestly, ATX was not the only software with problems this year, it's just that it may have been the works and more vocalized. ATX has always been a great product, but unfortunately even in the past has had bad years. And no I don't work form them and I'm not a beta tester, just a user for around 15 years. Unless something between now and December happens I plan on staying with them. If your not happy or don't think you will be happy, now is the time to consider your other options. Deb!

Jack, Even though we may not express ourselves, there are many (like myself) that are listening to you and your recommendations, we are just less vocal. I too, had a relatively problem free year (I had minor irks and quirks, but nothing I could not work around). I have reviewed Drake and probably would go there if I didn't believe that ATX will get it right this year, but I do believe many of the bugs are being worked out and plan to stick it out for another year, much because of the positive feed back from you. So please do not stop! Deb!

I have a client whom I'm trying to finish up. The last in the contributions. I have her annual statement that has all the money she gave broke down. It appears that in the first section it lists donations qualifying as tax deductions: Donations made for qualified religious services (solely intangible religious benefits). The amount her is substantial, but when reading the breakdown it appears it's for lectures, ect. also auditing intensive keeps coming up. The second heading states donations applied to qualified religious services and this amount is even more substantial, and the donation is listed as auditing intensive. Anybody have a clue what this is and is all of it deductible? (when I say substantial, I mean if I take all of it, it will be about 1/2 of her income) Thanks, Deb!

I had a problem come in to the office today that diffently goes back to ATX. He had received a lump sum payment on social security and I completed the lump sum payment worksheet, the 1040 had the proper code on the front next to the amount of social security claimed, but the lump sum payment worksheet did not get transmitted so my client got a letter that asked for another 1600.00 in taxes because of a social security reporting error. I took a look at the letter, duplicated the return and deleted the lump sum worksheet and came up to the figure IRS was claiming. Then I went back to the original return and looked at what had been e-filed and the lump sum worksheet did not go with the return. So I have to call tomorrow and see how they want us to fix it. So I'm not in a hurry to renew although I probably will for the same reason that Bull Dog Tom listed. Deb!

What date was used for the direct deposit? If it was any date after April 15th they won't pull it out. It has to be on or before April 15th. Deb!

I too, would like to keep the name. It was such a comfort to find this site when the official ATX shut down. Even though many have changed software, the questions and expertise remain the same. I not only use this board for work arounds with program issues, but I have learned so much and have been helped so much by many who post on this board. As to the NT subjects, well we each have the ability to decide if we want to read it or not. Many times I will click on and read the main post and if it doesn't interest me I move on. It's the same approach I take when I open a newspaper and glance at headlines. If it doesn't interest me I chose not to spend my time on it. It doesn't mean I don't think it should be included, because obviously it is intertesting to someone or it never would have been written in the first place! I personally would be sad if I saw KC or Jainen, Janitor Bob, Bull Dog Tom or anyone else leave. This truly is a community, and just as when a long time neighbor moves away we get sad! Just my two cents worth! Deb!
