Congratulations! And you are only 781 behind TAXBILLY!

The TRX software I received was made by Red Gear, which if I remember from another forum, was bought out by HRB. I tried it a couple of times and was not comfortable with it. I have since deleted it. It was worksheet based, but, supposedly could be switched to forms based. I found that out after I deleted it. I may try it again after vacation.

I didn't have any problem installing and my anti virus and malware software did not pick anything up. (Other than I didn't like the software, but I am spoiled on ATX.)

:bday: Thanks for all you add to the community.

Thanks. I am amazed at the amount of tools I find on this forum.

Ed: Taxbilly - Do you ever sleep?

I tried everything I could, but could not get it to switch to forms. I still was uncomfortable with the format.

I finally got around to trying the demo TRX sent me. I guess ATX has spoiled me. I like forms based tax software. Worksheets just don't cut it with me. I played for a few hours and ended up uninstalling it.

"Will someone opine on the application of the referenced 6 Security Standards to the following? I do not have an on-line web site nor collect information via that method. I do e-file returns using ATX." I am in the same boat. I don't even email tax information to my clients. All my work is face to face, except for e-filing.
-
"It is another resale situation. Once they were limited to selling 500 copies of ATX, it appears that they are going to offer another product for resale." The software is definitely a Red Gear product. I have installed it, but not yet tried it, but it seems to be worksheet oriented.

A quote from another tax forum: In the new health care bill making its way through Congress: Quote: SEC. 59B. TAX ON INDIVIDUALS WITHOUT ACCEPTABLE HEALTH CARE COVERAGE. `(a) Tax Imposed- In the case of any individual who does not meet the requirements of subsection (d) at any time during the taxable year, there is hereby imposed a tax equal to 2.5 percent of the excess of-- `(1) the taxpayer's modified adjusted gross income for the taxable year, over `(2) the amount of gross income specified in section 6012(a)(1) with respect to the taxpayer. If passed, that means if you don’t have acceptable health care coverage, you will be assessed a tax equal to 2.5% of your AGI that exceeds the filing requirement exemption amount for the year. Example: You are self-employed and make $60,000 over the minimum filing requirement. You do not have acceptable health care coverage. You must pay a tax = $1,500 on your 1040 return. Implications: We tax preparer’s will now be required to ask all of our clients whether or not they have acceptable health care coverage. If they do not, we have to enter a 2.5% penalty tax on their return. Imagine the preparer due diligence standards that we will be required to follow to make sure every client has acceptable health care coverage, or pays the penalty for not.

"I wonder how much tax California is really missing considering not just the direct sales tax on the tomatoes." Ca doesn't tax food yet!!! Please don't give them any more ideas!
-
First, no one wants to work in the fields. Second, they can't get any water. AND now, they they want shade in the fields. Why don't they put air conditioning on their harvesters, build showers and flush toilets and have catering trucks show up for the breaks and lunches. (Maybe breakfast and dinners?) They might as well make all the farms hot houses, the tomatoes won't taste any different, I haven't had a descent tasting store bought tomato in years. The high light of the year, is the first home grown tomato we harvest from our own yard or buy from the farmers' market. Californians wonder why businesses and people are moving out and why we are so much in debt. Irrational bond issues and stupid laws.

According to LION on another board, HRB bought out Red Gear and their products, which is Tax Works.
-
It seems TRX's software might be Tax Works by Red Gear. They are mailing me a demo copy of "their software." Hopefully, it will be software that they developed rather than another "resell" product. With all the software confusion that is going around by TRX and the price increases from CCH and the others AND the new proposed security requirements from the IRS, I am going to be rethinking how much longer I will practice.

I'm not sure. The post on The Tax Book seems like it is 2008, but you can't tell from TRX's website.
