do you file a return that is below the filing requirements for IRS? taxpayer has a rental with gross rents of 7200 no other income. on SS disablity. MFJ. so only reason to file would be SOL ? nonresidnet on CO where rental is at and their filing requirements is if need to file federal or owe CO tax. we filed last year because they got the FTHB credit. do you file these kinds of returns just for the SOL?

I am trying to efile an corrected 1099-misc that a client paper filed the orginial one wrong amount. but when I try to efile the corrected one is says because the original wasn't accepted it won't let me create. Am I missing a step?
-
I efile her with smith and 123-45-6789 never mind I see..... IRS thinks it his return filed not hers that's why when he tried to efile it was rejected because he was filing using his correct number and she had already used it.
-
they already agreed the debt was hers. she took out some retirement on their last final return together. I fessed up to making a very big mistake and I can't take back. Doesn't cost them anything just will slow down the ex return because of paper. But can anyone tell me how it got thru efile with the SS # not matching the name?

you should scratch off the name and address

I talked to IRS practitioner priority line and they took all the information and said she could correct my clients information with the wrong SS number. return is correct only thing wrong is SS number. refund was posted to a back joint return with a balance due which we knew would happen. I am just surprised that the efile went thru with wrong SS number. and now the ex must file paper.

I filed my now 2009 divorced client return for 2010. Used same rollover file and deleted all husband info. I thought ! Some how I used his SS number on the return. and the efile went thru. she got her refunds. but now ex husband tried to efile and was rejected he now has to paper file. so do I file 1040X to change the SS number? how did it get thru IRS name and # number. Just my luck! well now I know for sure to just start a new client return and not rollover. It even got thru our checking process.

WHO IS the 1098 from? which bank? I see 1901 points on the statement you listed property taxes you highligted are reserve taxes also remember you only deduct them when paid to county not when put into reserves
-
that is what I was doing but he is not actualy in business any more. the other problem that my client sent a 1099 out to the buyer for only 75% not the 100% I am telling him to correct that.
-
thank you. I knew how it was supposed to turn out but was not sure if I needed to show that he got the money and then paid out.
-
the oral contract says. 100% of fish income is paid to my client he then gives the buyer 75% of the income and keeps the 25% for the payment on the boat. this wouldn't be a problem if the fisheries would pay the buyer directly instead of my client but it was set up this way so my client would get his payment.
-
my client gets paid by the fisheries but he does not fish at all. the reason he gets the money is because he didn't trust the buyer to forward his payments for the boat sale to him. the terms of the sale was that 75% of the catch went to the buyer and 25% of the catch went to the seller until the full price was paid
-
I would not claim it on his single return this year. It would go on her estate return 1041. insolvent?
-
CLIENT had fishing boat and sold on installment sale but kept the contract with fisheries so that he receives the money for each catch paid to him. then he pays the buyer 75% of the catch and the other 25% goes as a payment on the sale. I show on 6252 and interest on sch B. they also give the new owner a 1099 for the 75% of the catch. my client does not receive a 1099 from the fisheries. I know what the answer is but I not sure if I am reporting in on the right forms or not. My client is no longer fishing so if I fill at a sch c and show the gross received for catch and then show the 75% paid out the new owner and then misc deduction as payment to contract of sale. it would come out the right answer. 0 sch C and gain on 6252 Not sure If I should continue to do sch C. but he does receive 100% of money for the catch. any thoughts? thanks

YOU CAN do it by alone on the 1040x just put the correct figures in. it depends on what kind a return. can you pencil it out on the copy of 2009 with the correct number and input into the 1040x or should you input all of 2009. what kind of errors were there?

Yes we can take the attorney fee's for getting taxable SS. So am I right that only the same % of taxable to non taxable SS is how much of the attorney fees we take
-
can we take the attorney fees for getting disablity SS according to the % of taxable SS income on Sch A 2% ?
