  1. Thanks for the reply. I came out with the same option. What happens that due to 1099R, ATX MAX creates 8606, so i deleted the 8606 and put the total amount to 15A for matching purpose. That took care of it.
  2. My client, husband 62, wife 60 both permanent disable withdraw the money from ROTH ira about 10k. 1099R shows code T (Roth withdrawal-exception applies). I use ATX MAX and it carries the whole amount of taxable on 1040 line 15B as income. The last 5498 they recieved for both in the year 2006 which according to them was that after 2005 they never contributed anything to the account. So it should be tax free withdrawal. How do I remove the withdrawal from 1040 as it shold be tax free withdrawal? Am I missing anything on 8606 or 1040 to remove from becoming taxable? It is 10k and make a big difference due to health and income. TIA.
  3. I had this last year. DOD correct on death certificate but the smart SS office switch the number. Client went to SS office to correct but somehow IRS computer did not pick up and finally filed paper.
  4. Just ignore it. It was on the ATX Blog by CCH.
  5. Friday, April 5, 2013 Receiving Old Acks 12.13 Scenario This happens if you operate with multiple users (you created multiple users in Security Manager). If you are a one-user office, you will NOT have this problem The program tries to receive acks every time you transmit or the you notice you are suddenly receiving acks from weeks or months ago--the same ones you have already picked up.. Solution: This will be fixedin a later version so it doesn't happen going forward, but if you have already picked up 12.13 and operate using multiple users, you will likely have this problem...but ONLY if you have multiple users. Work Around: The underlying problem is related to the user name...and their preferences....and the high water mark. The high water mark means the last date that a user connected to the EFC. If the user's high water mark is Feb 6th (for example purposes), then no matter which user efiles next, they will get all acks back to Feb 6th. This first answer below is proactive--for those customers that have NOT started downloading old acks yet. If you download 12.13 and have not picked up acks…then you can do the following: (1) login to the application with each user that does not typically transmit or receive acks (2) Open Preferences and click OK (3) Close ATX (4) Do this for each user ***Don't skip any users in this step--you must do them all. (5) Login using the user that you typically use when transmitting or receiving acks (6) Open Preferences and click OK (7) Close ATX (8) Now go back into ATX and work as usual. In this scenario they should not pick up prior acks unless they import or restore returns ______________________ This second answer is what you do after you start downloading old acks. (1) login to the application with each user that does not typically transmit or receive acks (2) Open Preferences and click OK (3) Close ATX (4) Do this for each user **Don't skip this step. you must have each user do this before you continue--or else it will just happen all over again. (5) Login using the user that you typically use when transmitting or receiving acks (6) Open Preferences and click OK (7) Close ATX (8) Now go back into ATX and work as usual. They will pick up all old acks again (for the last time) and then all will be fine. Posted by Kim Manuelat4:12 PM Labels:Software News
  6. Well i efiled with 8453 and it was accepted. I will keep it in my file. Thanks for all the replies.
  7. I upgraded my system last October with Dell I-7, 64 bit, Windows Pro 8 gig Ram with two 22" monitors but stand alone. The program so far works fine except occassional crashes. The problem is that system is very fast and most of the program are still slow. Other thing i noticed that mouse clicks so fast so eventhough the mouse set up is at the slowest, it still click more than once. So now I learnd to hold the left button little longer and fortunately it works for me. I do read other forum occasionally and look at the problem. I am just lucky one I guess so.
  8. I have one non resident efile for MA. I found form 8453 but not 8879. Do MA have one or not. Please help. TIA.
  9. Congrats are in order for both father and son.
  10. I use Mcfee and so far no problem. Just crossing my fingers.
  11. So far so good but until last year, we have check mark if we want to print the worksheet or so. Now this year it is gone so too many unnecessary papers get printed for no reason.
  12. Try this. Before you rollover, at the bottom of the screen, there are check boxes what you want to rollover. Remove all the check boxes and let only the info to be rolledover . See if this works.

    Form 6251

Check on the efile tab of forms transmitted. If not needed probably not but check what forms were transmitted.
  14. No. You have to register your EFIN with ATX at their website.Check and see it is listed there.
  15. I feel for all preparer who have lots of walking traffic. But as soon as I found out that program crashes and other problems, I uncheck all the boxes at the bottom of the rollover form. Rollover just the info only. After every update deleted the asset folder and download new forms. Printed worksheet from last year tax PDF and started doing some more data entry this year. The result is almost few crashes, and returns get completed faster. So change of work flow helped me a lot to control my loss of time. Yes I have previlage that I work from home and I do not have people waiting for me. But instead of getting upset (software issues) which is not in my control, I would rather focus on task at hand and my returns are getting completed (little slow) but result is getting better and better. I do have returns with forms are still not approved by IRS. But I know one thing, focus on work at hand. I check every tax return before creating efile and the result is less rejection. This is how I work.
  16. I always hold state until federal is approved. ATX MAX in efile setup you have option. I do file NY, NJ, CT, MA, CA, OH, and few more.
  17. There are checkmarks at the bottom of the rollover screen with different options. See if you marked it.
  18. Also remove all the past 1099, old w-2 etc which is not good for this year. Anything do not belong to this year rolledover from last year, please check and remove, and you really have very few problems with efile.
  19. I usually do not start preparing tax return until February 1st but order in around Christmas. Never renew early. Start with my own return data entry once received so get familier with the new so called enhencement.

  21. Atleast you guys are lucky that you can rollover and open the return. I am still waiting for the magic fix which will open my own return. In few seconds of open, the window error message comes out with software not responding and only option is close the program.
  22. We all understand that we cannot file before 01/30 but it is always a good idea to check out the software with couple of returns to see how it is performing or behaving on individual case by case. I officially start my tax season on 02/01 but always rollover my own return and start data entry due to 5 different schedule C so that before i start tax season, i have good knowlage of this year's tax software problems or some new features. This is the only return i rolledover every year and never had opening a retrun problem in last 20 years. first it start with shell problem and now windows shut down the program. What CCH should do that all form in DRAFT mode should be there but may restrict the printing or efiling so all the customer can get their hand on the new year software. But they will do what they want to do. Even on the other board, people are screaming for the same problem but not a single reply from the CCH. That is sad that after paying over $1200, the customer service is not good. Just my 2 cents.
  23. God will certainly give you strength. You are in my prayers.
  24. Please accept my condolences. May god give you all the strenghth you and family need at this time.
  25. The only thing i can think of is any estimated payments were made and forgot to include.
