Started preparing taxes in 1985 when I bought my first computer, a Packard Bell 500 without a hard drive. The following year I added a 10MB hard disk. I used a dot matrix printer that took forever. My first tax prep software was "Your Income Tax" by J.K.Lasser which later became Tax Shop. I switched to ATX when Tax Shop went under in I believe 1994. Now I have to be completely portable since most of my returns are prepared in my client's home. My main computer (laptop) has 2gb of ram and a 250gb hard drive. I carry an internet card so that I can have access anywhere I go. I also have an office at home and take care of a few well chosen clients there as well. I now prepare about 150 returns and will be looking to increase my clientele this year.
