Every time I go to log into MyAtx, my password is rejected, so after two tries, I go to 'forgot password' and change it. And thenI have to come up with a new one since it won't let me use an old one (although yesterday I reused the last one). Is anyone else having this issue? The only way to log in after resetting the password is to hit 'continue' which asks for your security question answer (I reuse the same one) and then puts me into MyAtx. But tomorrow, I'm going to bet my new password will not work. I'm running out of passwords! Does anyone else have this issue?

I've always had issues with big returns opening slowly. If they are still slow once I'm not having hundreds of forms updating daily, then I'll complain.
-
I had no issues with the one return I rolled over, and it had the custom spreadsheet in it. And the spreadsheet never rolled over with the return (which peeved me a bit). The only other modification I made was to change the return cover sheet to read 'Federal & State' instead of just 'Federal'. So I wonder how many people that are having issues with rollover customized the actual forms?

I just tried a return and it opened fine. I'm glad to see the 1040 is finally in there without 'reserved' lines.

I guess I'll go back to the excel version of the spreadsheet and attach as a pdf if the same-sex returns can even be efiled this year. And yes, I've heard from Lacerte users that their software won't allow the efile either, so it's not just ATX here.

So I can't add a spreadsheet anymore? Like Mike, I do specialized returns, and had my community property split spreadsheet as a custom form that calculated the split.

Does anyone remember when ATX and Norton didn't play together at all? I had to disable Norton everytime I sent an efile or downloaded updates. And then had the fun of scrubbing Norton off my system to put on a compatable antivirus. Ugh. Norton doesn't let go of a computer easily!

Also, you can't file for another week. I only roll my clients as they are sitting in front of me, especially in a year when filing season has been screwed up by congress, and forms are constantly updating. So I don't understand the need to roll over 1,000 returns at a time.
-
Also, it seems many of you are confusing this board with the CCH sponsored ATX message board. We are the UNofficial board, and we don't censor complaints. I do suggest you don't roll over batches; I only roll over more than the return I'm working on when I'm doing extensions. I don't run a network, but I really haven't had any issues yet with the software. but then again, since I can't file yet, I haven't had any clients come in; I've only worked a projection and on my own return.

where does this reference cloud computing?

Whats up is that the program is updating nearly every frikkin form in the return when you initially open it. That's Congress, not ATX.
-
Ooops, you are right, the exemption isn't updated. My bad. In the past, with the patches, I've just overridden the exemption amount until the update came and it's worked fine. My 2011 does update every now and then when I open it.

Possible conflict of interest - Audit supervisor - taxpayer

I'm single with no children, and I have 15% of my home for my office. Two full rooms. 40% is really, really high, and a big red flag. -
Linda, that sounds like ATX was for me a couple of years ago when my old laptop was maxed out. It took ages to navigate from one input to another. Dead slow. Look at your system's memory and the specs for running 2012.

I've got several workarounds for my same-sex couple clients in ATX, like adding a computing spreadsheet form, that Drake couldn't do. It, like a lot of software, groups 'business' forms and 'individual' forms, and never in the same return shall they meet. Like a form 5471 for an individual client, or a CA 568 for an SMLLC. I also did a test return with a CA resident with form 2555 and it added back the exclusion amount twice. I had heard that Drake's CA interface wasn't that good, and the miscalc, and inability for me to fix it easily was a deal breaker. You might want to search Tax Almanac for the Drake accuracy issues from last year. I can't remember what exactly it was. Lacerte had a biggie too, if I remember correctly.

IRS losses lawsuit challenging authority to regulate tax preparers

Its not the last hurrah. IMHO, the decision is flawed; if it stands, most of Circular 230 is moot for all of us to follow the judge's basis for the opinion. -
Since we have Drake users on here, and I'm on quite a few other message boards, I can say that Drake users were quite unsatisfied last year with accuracy issues. I test drove Drake two years ago since it seemed to be quite faster than ATX (ATX has always been a memory hog since it is/was spreadsheet based rather than data base based), but found it did not have the flexibility I need for the odd type of returns I do.

I roll over my own return as soon as I get the software. It's a huge return, and it gives me an idea of what forms are available (nearly none this year, but that was expected) and a chance to play around in the software. I've only rolled one other return since even my 'early birds' got my letter saying filing was delayed. I've had no problems rolling over returns. Or having the software crash. (cross my fingers, knock on wood) but then again, I'm not running on a network. I did get to preview the software at the CCH Small Firms conference in October, so I know this isn't last minute software changes, or a beta version except what is due to Congress.

Do you have the 2011 program set up to update automatically? My planner did, and has the new info in it.

We are the UNOFFICIAL ATX community board. The official one is over at the ATX website.

40% is very high. Could this be one of the reasons they are looking so closely? Did your client give a reason why the supervisor could have a 'vendetta'? -
I like the split program too, since I can work on two clients at once. The program is getting quicker; opening the few returns I've rolled over does take awhile, since each time I open, I'm updating forms. I haven't had any of the issues with the program that some people have had, but I'm not networked (only run one computer), which seems to have caused more problems.

I use the ATM. Much easier and available at all times of the night!

so now my efile for the PIN number has been accepted. So how do I get the PIN? (connection problem was Norton; damn I hate Norton)

I was going to chime in that smart phones require you to use a finger to sign, or a special stylus. Weird, I'll use square, and I put a Paypal button on my website, since paypal is cheaper than typing in the card number (I do a lot of clients remotely), but I just don't trust the 'taking a picture of the check' thingy my bank provides. But the branch is only 3 miles from my house, so it's no biggie to run over every now and then.
