  1. Just click 'skip'. That's a bug in the old program. BTW, I used the 'client instructions' instead of the client letter for my payroll. Something in the client letter wasn't right, but at this point I can't remember what it was.
  2. I crashed last night when trying to duplicate a return-second duplication, and it was the third return open. Also crashed trying to print to Adobe, haven't had an issue with the ATX PDF printer.
  3. There's an election to waive the election. The $5000 expense is the default. But that point is moot for the question since the biz didn't 'open' until 2013. Thanks Julie, I'll try that. I wasn't thinking of the start up cost in terms of an asset. That helps!
  4. Which states? NY requires that the wages on the NY W2 match the federal, regardless of how much was actually earned there.
  5. I'm doing an S-corp that did no business in 2012, but did incurr start up costs, that they are electing to fully amortize starting in 2013. I cannot figure out how in ATX to get the expenses to show 'per books' on the M-1, but bring the income to zero 'per tax'. I've tried every permutation I can find, and it always either leaves only M&E on line 1 or doubles the amount on line 1. How I'm feeling about corps at this point.
  6. You can change the billed amount in AR.
  7. Thanks Ken! I noticed one had changed in the AR section, but at least I had already billed it.
  8. I switched the font to Times New Roman and have bigger margins.
  9. I liked some things about Drake, like an automatically saved PDF file to your file cabinet. That was sweet. But I hated not being able to drill down to your data. And the CA state module was crap.
  10. I use an adjustment on line 21. I'm overriding withholding but on the line 62 worksheet, not the 1040. If you override the 1040, you can't efile. But I'm doing same sex couple returns, not MFS.
  11. I wasn't being snippy, it's just how it is. And what irks me is that many of the calls are unnecessary, if the users just looked on the boards, read the damn manual, or searched the knowledge base. Then people with pressing issues like yours could get through. If you can't find a fix here or on the official ATX board, one hint I saw was to press zero once you call in and you'll go straight to tech support without having to get into the queue. Maybe that will work.
  12. Yup, I noticed this right away; and it was posted on the official ATX board. I just love adding up all the payments....
  13. I have a website portal too. Even my local clients are starting to send docs through it. Just pick someone Eric! And this year, even a review should work.
  14. ATX is getting a bazillion calls. That's why it takes so long.
  15. I'm always running as Admin. I wonder if that is why I'm not having as many of these problems.
  16. Yes, that's one simple solution! Feds aren't supposed to accept 'preparer' and ATX stopped defaulting to that in 2009 or 2010. It is one of the messages you get in error check if you haven't filled in the state. At least for CA; I haven't done any out of state returns yet.
  17. I sent the janitor one to my roomie. I knew he had opened it when I heard extended laughter coming from downstairs.
  18. Don't know; I haven't tried one. But per the other board, a lot of people are getting state rejects from that box; not filled in or wrong info. Silly for not filled in-error check does point to not filled in. But some of the people on the other board appear to have the intelligence of a turnip.
  19. that one was great! thanks for the giggles, KC!
  20. 'Preparer' hasn't been valid for federal for a few years now. I've had to change all of my rolled over returns; but still get a few where I'm doing back returns. ATX should automatically fill in your info when you check 'yes' on the federal. I still have to fill in my info for CA & any other states that have it.
  21. Just opened my first return today. Gotta say it was so fast I blinked and had to look twice to see it was open already. Nice.
  22. Form 8958.
  23. Carbonite won't back up hidden folders unless you tell it to. Make sure you have the ATX data file selected for backup.
  24. Not garbage & sewer.
