The credit requires you to input the VIN for the car. They should be getting a notice anytime, depending on when they actually filed the return.

I think I made a mistake - or maybe I won't know until next year

It's not a short coverage gap if the kids didn't have coverage in January 2016. -
The regular Prius credit expired long, long ago. It was the first one to be depleted when hybrids had credits.

I find the o/s calculations to be a pain in the butt, and rarely worth my time until this year, when it flowed so smoothly. But I do them for a complete return. If I'm taking the credit on a CA return, not so bad. Manual = find out other states tax rate, do the calc. Unless you have to take the credit on the out of state return, like resident CA with either AZ or OR income. Then I've got to look up instructions to out of state return, do the calcs, and for OR, the calcs are miserable.

These were both new clients, but did not owe, or at least nothing out of the ordinary. Haven't seen the last ones returns yet, but from what she said, she always got refunds.

I had one client mention about 2 weeks ago that he got a letter saying he should review his withholding allowances and if necessary file a new W4. He has withholding at Single-1, hasn't recently changed his allowances, and isn't under or over withholding. It slipped my mind until a new client called today and said she had received the same letter, been on the job for 3 years, hasn't changed w/h and is withheld at single-0. anyone else heard of these going out? I think the IRS notice computer hiccuped, but want to put it out there. I'm seeing the new client next week, so she'll bring the letter with her.

I wasn't saying you didn't vet the person to whom you sold the biz, hell, after what you mentioned, don't think you could have done more. God I hope I don't 'want to be expanding' at 61!

Max still includes the payroll module. It's just a separate program. I hope the returns which I've got on extension that I already calculated the credit using this feature don't get screwd up. i looked at how much they are charging for ATX Advantage. $3599!!!!!!

I didn't know that was an add on until I read it here. Maybe I won't update.

And how important thoroughly vetting a prospective purchaser is!

I've got at least 84 at last count. I usually only have 30-35. Biz is up!

Where's the SE coming from? and file an extension! -
Well I did come home to a couple more I had missed, and filed those. Called some people that were making payments online and got them sorted out. Sent out a POA for so done I'm filing back returns. Paid my assistants. Took a nap. I am waiting on some ACKs, and for the Voice to start. Might watch lots of the final season of Justified. And told everyone that I'm taking the rest of the week off. Well, might do my own payroll.

I'm done! Well I'll check my last two efiles when I get home tomorrow. Felt so good to be able to enjoy a day without anything hanging over my head. I could have finished yesterday but it's a bit of a pain logging in remotely.

I've slept 10 hours the last two nights. Sooooo good. Today was the first day I've been coherent for at least a month. One more extension to do, one more return to deliver, gotta pay my amount due and it's quarterly. Got the money in my IRA today.
-
I have two more left to file that are done and 32 more extensions to file. Usually that's all I have, but this year I've already filed almost 50 extensions. I left for my client conference today and will be filing from my hotel room. The two hour drive to San Jose actually did me a LOT of good. That and the nap before I left that my roommate insisted I take before driving.

I keep the task manager open and check the memory and CPU usage when it starts running slow. Have to reboot periodically and if I need a big memory clean out, reboot the computer. I had my first crash today, of course when I'm barely able to type my password.

I thought that was what was happening. At least he gets a big credit towards his NY tax.

I'm sending very few all zero extensions. My question had more to do with the amount being paid with the extension; if I don't know how much, if any, the client will pay, I'll put it at zero. Sent one in today, guy wants to pay something on his $4k bill and get it paid off in a few months. So I directed him to WebPay. He's got until the 18th to get some bucks together and I know his butt is covered.

NT-Thank God for this board, Eric, and the people on it
joanmcq replied to NECPA in NEBRASKA's topic in General Chat
April 11 for me! Remember KC and others on here starting a substitute group on Yahoo right away after the Great Message Board Debacle and then Eric volunteering to start this one. Can't believe that was 10 years ago. -
Retired couple had OBAMA CARE, are they required to file taxes?
joanmcq replied to giogis245's topic in General Chat
If you are below the filing requirement you are supposed to be on Medicaid, not Marketplace. There is a spot to check if your state didn't expand Medicaid, and then there is no repayment. Also an exception if you expected to make more in the year, but circumstances changed (just had one of these). -
No, but now I will. Thanks. A. Lot.
