my ex-husband is an engineer. I had to fire him last year..thinks he knows everything. New accountant (think he picked him because he's really cheap & just starting out) messed up his return royally. Wait 'til he gets the real estate pro audit. Rep work? $150 an hour with a BIG PITA fee, or maybe I won't do it at all; he's been trying to get away with too much crap.

I am running Windows 7 Pro. Haven't discovered all the bells & whistles yet, but I like it very much so far. I loaded both ATX 2008 & 2007 and imported my files and both seem to run just fine, although they don't load as fast as 2009 does. Will try the older programs a year back at a time. Am running all the way back to 1997 on my old XP Pro laptop, and never had any problems with compatability. Now the printer driver is another thing! My HP M2727nfMFP is not even a year old, and they don't have a driver for it. Tried the universal driver, but I can't seem to get it loaded. Guess I'll let my roommate screw around with it and see if he can get it to work. No printer for tax time is not a good thing!

Just got my new HP 8290 up and running and it is sooooooo fast. Windows 7 is really intuitive; so far no problems navigating. About to load the 2008 program & then I'll try 2007. I have the 64 bit by the way.

This year was sooo good, I don't mind turning 50 next year. Life just keeps getting better & better.

Got a warning at work Friday (we do use all CCH research products) and it is a virus. DO NOT CLICK ON IT!!!!

big laugh. I just started cleaning off my coffeetable, and there was the package from ATX. expected fedex or priority mail, but was sent regular postage. :scratch_head:
-
I have not received anything yet from ATX, although my account says it shipped the 23rd. Anyone else not received their program?

Thanks Jack, its hard to determine when the software co just says they 'wont support it' whether that means 'it won't work' or 'it probably will work, but we won't say that just in case it doesn't'. I'll order my new screaming fast system tonight then! and since my printer/scanner/fax is my main peripheral and is less than a year old, its unlikely HP won't have a new driver for it.

Do you have the 32 bit or 64 bit Windows 7? I am buying a new computer and have to decide between the two operating systems, and am wondering about the rollover process if I get the 64 bit, as well as the functionality with the 2007 & 2008 programs. I called ATX and they thought that the 2007 & 2008 would run on the 32 bit but not on the 64 bit. But since 64 bit is the 'wave o the future', and I keep computers a long time, I don't want to be obsolete right out of the gate if possible.

yes we do...actually we have several famous rose gardens; there is also one at the capitol and another in McKinley park. Which Doubletree? Arden Way?

The pruning season in Sac hasn't begun yet; we've been having lovely mild fall weather. Our pruning season usually lasts aprroximately a week in a good year and about 2 hours in a bad year....kidding about the 2 hours but plants just don't go dormant here. Trying to figure out just when to prune the roses back since they've been growing wild for pretty much the last 8 years.

If the 401K is transferred as a QDRO, there is no penalty for her either, is there? but if she transferrs it to an IRA she doesn't qualify for the QDRO penalty exemption.

I had a push the weekend of sept 26 & the last few days because I was in London having fun from 9/28-10/8. Definitely was worth a few late nights this week!!!!!

Keeps me in biz with all the TurboTax messes!

Call the agent working on the offer. If no one is assigned yet, speak with whomever answers the phone and explain. and explain to your client that offers take a long time and coordinating all of the necessary paperwork is essential to even getting it considered, much less accepted. If he doesn't appreciate your thoroughness....make sure you bill him for every second you are on hold while you try to straighten HIS mess out. Who the heck changes banks when they have an 18K check to the IRS outstanding????? And if he did change banks, is the 433-A still up to date?

Yeah; that happens to me all the time. Really. Very tight chest and hurts to breathe. But it goes away in an hour or three. Don't know about the pulse. I'm only 49. But I am also afflicted with "its only a flesh wound" syndrome and wait it out.

Yeah, there's a guy here who lost his legs due to blood loss to the legs. went in to have his gall bladder removed. doctor knicked the main artery going to the leg and took hours before they did anything about it. S#$% happens. I don't think the UK has a problem with patient dumping either, like seems to be more common here. Last one in Sacramento was a young man who had been having seizures and was on psych meds was put in a cab and told to be dropped off at 3am in front of a closed homeless shelter. The cab driver was worried and called the young man's father. Yeah; the lady that died in the ER. After she had keeled over and was laying on the floor, someone (an orderly I think) did come over and nudged her with his foot. She didn't move. A few hours later someone else noticed she was dead. I really don't appreciate this thread being hijacked for political crap.

Ahhh, but mine is some of the world's best chocolate....sent to me (and remember I'm a perimenopausal woman) currently going through hormonal upheavals while trying to get my extensions done. The best answer to a hot flash is chocolate!

Thank God for clients that thank me with fine Belgian chocolate!!!!!

yeah, I took another look and no $100 if I don't do over 10 and didn't do over 10 last year. whew. I've been paying OR for the privelege of being able to rep there (and my ^&%$R employer won't reimburse even though its for my frikkin JOB), and really don't want any more fees... -
If she was paid, that's kinda fraudulent, isn't it.

I prefer Xanax myself. Sigh. Now if someone would just answer my Oregon question... And NY is even making EAs & us out of state CPAs register & cough up $100 bucks. Guess my two NY returns get a bounce too. -
I think that's right Mike. But I do prepare two NY returns, so I do have to register even though I am a CPA, I'm not licensed in NY.

The notice basically is telling you they did not report the interest or 1099-R & the taxable SS is being increased as a result. John, the numbers do tie, $15554+18355+1435 = 35344. subtract the 'as originally filed' taxable income and you get $25544. The tax is too high though. what intrigues me is the failure to file penalty; you just don't see that much on CP2000 notices. Also, unless they filed late, that wouldn't be on there, although if they filed without an extension it would be. I'm gonna bet they filed something to get the stimulus at least. Wonder if they cashed in some savings bonds or something and forgot about it; that's a lot of interest, and if they usually don't have to file they could have forgotten about it. I agree with getting the POA and checking e-services to see what they have there in terms of filing and income.
