I would like some responses to my question. Thanks

How do you depreciate farm equipment? The total of items to depreciate doesn't reach $500,000. I know there are ordering rules. Can you choose not to use the 179 deduction and use only the special depreciation allowance and regular depreciation allowance deduction or must you also choose the 179 deduction? For example: Farm equipment cost $25,000 If you don't use the 179 deduction, special allowance deduction is $12,500 Regular depreciation allowance deduction is $1,339 Total deduction for year is $13,839. The question is, do you have to use the 179 deduction first? For example: Farm equipment cost $25,000 179 deduction is $25,000 all deducted in the first year. Thanks for your response.

Jack, I still get an error message. Maybe I need step by step directions.

Thanks Jack. I will see tomorrow if the errors show up again. Thanks again for your advice.

Jack, Second--when I checked the boxes in preferences for update I saw a check mark in the box update program on start up. I also saw a check mark in the box for update forms on start up. First-- I put my CD in the drive, cancelled the installation, opened the program with the CD still in the drive. What changes was I to see?

Jack, I believe I installed it from the CD.

Program errors: When I first try to open the ATX program I get two error messages. 1. The first error is: "Can't connect to server" 2. The second error is an "Initialization error" (which says please insure server is running. I am wondering why I am getting these error messages. I installed the ATX program on a stand-a-lone computer. My computer is a windows 7 Pro laptop. The processor is an AMD Phenom II N850 Triple-Core processor 2.20 Ghz. The ram memory is 4.00 GB (3.74 GB) usable. After I get these errors I continue to click on the ATX icon and then I am able to open the program. Why are these errors happening?

I am working with XP SP3. I have a pentium ® 4 cpu 2.80GHz 2.79 GHz 3.62 GB of Ram. I have plenty of hard disk space and my monitor display is 1024 x 768 32- bit. When I click on the ATX icon a box comes up with these words Run As and the box current user information. I click ok and another box comes up that says I can't connect to the server. When I enstalled I chose a stand-a-lone option. Question: Is the ram memory causing my problem. The minumum requirements are 4 GB and I have 3.62 Ram. Just to let you know, I also have a windows 7 laptop computer but I have done my tax returns previously on the XP desktop machine.

I am not able to open my ATX program after downloading the program to my computer. This happens after I shut my computer off and restart it back up. The error message is: Run As - can't connect to server error. I don't have a server. I am on a stand-a-lone machine. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled the program a second time and still get the same error message. The payroll program works fine. Why do I have this problem?

Eric Would you be able to set up for us a survey that asked what tax software we plan to use for 2013? From the survey we can than find what tax software come out first, second, third and so forth. We can find out how many of those on the sight plan to use ATX or Drake or ProSeries, or etc. Thanks!!

If you receive an email from IRS that says "Claim Your Tax Refund Online" what do you do? It goes on to say "We identified an error in the calculation of your tax from the last payment, amounting to $419.95. In order for us to return the excess payment, you need to create a e-Refund account after which the funds will be credited to your specified bank account. I would say the above is a hoax, what do you say?

I would say no! On any contribution statement you should find these words "The above donations were received by the name of the charity. There were no goods or services received in exchange for these donations, other than intangible, religious benefits"

As a result of the new download, I can now turn my mirror image off and print correctly for the first time since getting the software this year.

Teachers are very happy that they can deduct some of the expenses they incur.

A topic that I started when I first started using ATX software this year was that I could not print a form correctly. The mirror image was on and even though I turned it off, it would not stay off. To get to this mirror image, I went in the program to change printers, than properties, than to the advance tab. After downloading version 12.11, I now can turn the mirror image off and print correctly with my HP Officejet Pro L7780 all in one printer. Before this upgrade happened, I had purchased another printer, an HP LaserJet Pro 400 color printer so that I could print tax returns correctly. Now both my printers work.

Downloaded 12.ll today. Seemed to take a long time to open the first return but the others were faster.

The Client's State return is now accepted. I did not do anything except wait some more. I guess it was ok to have "receive acks" as a term in the Status Column of the E-file Manager. Now the term in the column is "accepted." I am going to look in the Knowledge Base and see if there is anything in regard to this.
-
In 2006-2008 I have a page that showed terms used in the Status-column of the e-file manager as such: Created, held, transmitted to EFC, duplicated, held at EFC, Validated by EFC, Transmitted to Agency, Ack Requested, Retransmitting, IRS Cleared, Rejected by EFC, Rejected by Agency, Action Required, Conditional, Accepted. Nothing here on receive ack.
-
Jack, did you call the State where the efile was sent to find out if they had received it before you sent the State return again? It seems the State has the return. Receive acks still shows as the status in my E-file Manager.
-
In my E-File Manager under the status heading it says receive acks instead of transmitted or accepted-Why? I have never seen this before. I have looked in the instructions and I can't find the answer. Before when I clicked on receive acks it would either stay as transmitted or changed to accepted. I have never seen receive acks in the status of the return before. Is there a work around for this?
-
What is the meaning of "receive acks" in the Efile manager? When I efile a return it says "transmitted." When the return is accepted it says "accepted." What does it mean when it says "receive acks?"
-
When you look at acknowledgement history of a return why does it show accepted by agency in green more than one time? One time would be sufficient.
-
Not yet. I do not see the error message now when I do a check return. So I am thinking about efiling a return now.
-
Works ok for me. Thanks Eric

I also use Macafee and have no problem.
