You can't get the Quickbooks Pro 2009 edition now. They are sold out in the store and online. I drove 50 miles today to get to Staples only to have them tell me they were all sold out. They will also tell you that if you go online. But thanks for the posting.

It seems what I have read here in these post: there are four places that you can use the same personal pin. 1. In the Third Party Designee (page 2 of form 1040) 2. As your electronic signature in the Sign here section (on page 2 of form 1040) 3. Along with the EFIN number (in part III of form 8879) 4. As the ERO pin under the E-file tab Is this correct?

I quess I don't know how to ask question very good. mcb39, I was talking about your signature on your own return in the sign here section on page 2 of form 1040. In otherwords if you are sending in your own return electonically and you give it an electronic signature. Is not this different then if you are preparing the return for a client?

I think we are to use last year's organizer that is generated in the 2007 Return to gather information for the 2008 Return. The 2008 organizer is for 2009. Is this right?

I haven't received mine yet, but I will be looking for it.

Thank you mcb39 for the explanation. I have been with ATX since 1999. I really enjoy working with the ATX program. I have never used the ATX efile program and that is why I am asking some questions. Is the ERO number the same number that you might use for your electronic signature when you sign the page 2 of Form 1040? There are other questions I have about the actual transmitting of the forms to ATX!!! Again, THANKS!!!!!!

Thanks mchampine for your answer but when I tried to enter the EFIN number in the ERO field it would only allow 5 characters instead of the 6 characters that my EFIN number had!!! There are three tabs in the Preparer's Manager. 1. The PREPARER'S TAB is where you enter the Social Security & PTIN numbers. If you enter them there do you enter them a second time on another tab and where? 3. The third tab is the EFILE TAB. In the EFILE tab is: a. EFIN number (if you enter the EFIN number here do you enter it again in the ERO field?) LOOK AT NOTE ABOVE b. ERO number c. SS pin (if you enter your social security number in the preparer's tab, do you enter it again here? Thanks for your reply!!!!

When I talked to Klienrock, I thought we were not going to get our "1040 Express Answers" for awhile because legislation had not been completed in order to compile the book. I have the last years "1040 Express answers" for the 2007 Tax Year. Do you have the 2008 book?

If you are the ERO (Electronic Return Originator) what is: 1. The ERO Pin 2. The SS Pin I have the PTIN and EFIN numbers. Should you check the print signature box or have the client sign the return? Thanks for your reply!!!!!

What form is required to be completed if you file another's return electronically by using a PIN as their signature? Thanks for your reply!!!!

Sorry JohnH for the title. In the preparer manager what does the letters CAF mean?

I downloaded the organizer into my 2008 return. When I printed out the organizer, the page that carried vehicle information (Schedule E) line 4 gave two lines: January 1 to June 30 July 1 to December 31

Thanks JRS! I left the first preparer's information blank. I then created a new preparer and entered my information in the new created preparer's lines. After the information of paid preparer was entered on the second page of Form 1040, I deleted it by switching to the first preparer's information which was blank. It Worked!!!!! Looks like it should be in preferences.

Question: What steps do you take to delete all the information from the section on page 2 of Form 1040 entitled "Paid Preparer's Use Only?" Looks like there should be a way to delete this information in preferences but I can't do it. In preferences I chose none, apply and close and still the information was on the form. The only way I could delete the information was to delete the preparer information. Thanks for your reply.

It seems that the password system works fine for me. The new login procedure requires three items: 1. Your client ID (that is the ID they ask for when you call them by phone) 2. Your user name (I have not changed since the beginning) 3. Your password I have only had to change my password when they asked me to. I believe I have changed my password 5 times since CCH sent out their sheet titiled "Important Information on Changes to MyATX.com"

Do any of you preparers use the 1099 misc. and W-2 option and don't have problems when you print the forms? What are you doing in order to make the forms print correctly? I sure wish they had a way to move up or left below the zero mark.

I have a XP and my wife has a Vista. She had a scanner that she really liked but it will not work with Vista because there is no printer driver for it. Vista works well for her and the Roxio program is real nice because when you burn a disk you can simply drag and drop it. My burn is done with Sonic. Now about XP. I like it for doing tax returns with ATX. I had XP Professional (SP1) and needed to have at least (SP2). I did windows update and now have XP (without Professional) and (SP3). I believe Dell has it where you can buy either XP or Vista.

Problems with printing 1099 misc., 1096, and W-2 When I print out on the preprinted form 1096, I can't get the left margin to go left far enough in the print alignment box. My X in the 1099-Misc box is not centered. The problem I see is that there is no minus when you click left on the left margin. It only goes to zero. I am using an HP Officejet Pro L7780 all-in-one. Another problem is that it pushes out a blank page then a copy; another blank page and then a copy when it prints. Why is this happening? How have you fixed problems in printing the above forms?

Thanks for all that responded. How did you do the upgrade and what programs if any did not work after the upgrade? What hardware did not work? I am not just talking about the ATX program. For example, my old scanner does not work on a vista operating machine because we don't have a vista driver for it. I doubt I could get a driver for my old scanner.

I am wondering if any of you are able to install the 2008 ATX software on a Windows XP Professional (SP1) (Service Pack 1)? That is the machine I have. When I read the minimum system requirements that they sent me it says the minimum system requirements are XP (SP2) (Service Pack 2), or Vista. Those of you that have had success in installing the program, what operating system do you have? Are you able to upgrade a SP1 to a SP2 without any conflicts? Thanks for your early response.

I received my ATX 2008 Tax Preparation today (12/3/2008). The software would not install on my computer. I have a Windows XP Professional (SP1). After looking at the minimum system requirements it mentined that the software requires Windows XP Professional (SP2), or Vista. Was any of you able to install it on a Windows XP Professional (SP1)? If I am not able to install it on SP1, have any of you did an upgrade with SP2? How did installing the upgrade work for you? Were there any problems? Thanks for your early reply!

ATX has an uninstall feature whereas TRX doesn't. When I went to the add/remove programs in the control panel to delete the TRX program I was afraid I would delete some files that might affect other programs I had on my computer.
-
I like ATX better than TRX or Orrtax. I sure did not like doing a system restore to remove the TRX program from the computer.

How do you get to this Yahoo group?
